SUPERPOSITION OF THE λ-PARAMETERIZED SQUEEZED STATES

Abstract

The superposition states of the λ-parameterized squeezed states are introduced and investigated. These states are intermediate states interpolating between the number and Schrödinger cat states and admit algebraic characterization in terms of su(1, 1) algebra. It is shown that these states exhibit remarkable nonclassical properties.

SUPERPOSITIONS OF SQUEEZED COHERENT STATES: PROPERTIES AND GENERATION

A.‐S. F. Obada, G. M. Abd Al-Kader

The s-parameterized charactristic function for the superposition of squeezed coherent states (SCS's) is given. The s-parameterized distribution functions for the superposition of SCS's are investigated. Various moments are calculated by using this charactristic function. The Glauber second-order coherence function is calculated. The photon number distribution of the superposition of SCS's studied. Analytical and numerical results for the quadrature component distributions for the superposition of a pair of SCS's are presented. The phase distribution calculated from the integration of s-parameterized distribution function over the phase space. A generation scheme is discussed.

GENERALIZED SUPERPOSITIONS OF SQUEEZED COHERENT STATES

G. M. Abd Al-Kader

The superpositions of a pair of squeezed coherent states (SCS) with different squeezing parameters are defined. The characteristic function (CF) for the generalized superpositions of SCSs is given. Photon number distribution for these states is considered. The Q-function for the generalized superposition of SCSs is investigated.

ON THE GENERATION OF INTERMEDIATE NUMBER SQUEEZED STATE OF THE QUANTIZED RADIATION FIELD

B. Baseia, Andreísa Fabri Lima, Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato

Recently, a new state of the quantized radiation field — the intermediate number squeezed state (INSS) — has been introduced in the literature: it interpolates between the number state |n> and the squeezed state |z, α>=Ŝ(z)|α>, and exhibits interesting nonclassical properties as antibunching, sub-Poissonian statistics and squeezing. Here we introduce a slight modification in the previous definition allowing us a proposal to generate the INSS. Nonclassical properties using a new set of parameters are also studied.

Non-classicalities exhibited by the superposition of Schrödinger’s cat state with the vacuum of the optical field

Abstract Superposition of two coherent states, the Schrodinger’s cat state, can exhibit different nonclassical properties having foundational applications in quantum information processing. We consider the ‘superposition of Schrodinger’s cat state with the vacuum state (SCVS)’ of the optical field. We discuss different witness of nonclassicality properties such as lower- and higher-order squeezing (viz., squeezing, Hong & Mandel’s fourth-order squeezing, amplitude-squared squeezing) and sub-Poissonian photon statistics. Further, we discuss the negativity of the Wigner function of SCVS indicating the nonclassicality of the state under investigation. We find that the vacuum state contribution in SCVS exhibits different nonclassicalities under some conditions stronger where the nonclassicalities exhibited by the state without vacuum state contribution are weaker.

STATISTICAL PROPERTIES OF SUPERPOSITION OF ODD AND EVEN SU(1,1) COHERENT STATES

We study the statistical properties in the superpositions of SU(1,1) coherent states |ζ,k〉and |ζ,k〉. The even SU(1,1) coherent state (|ζ,1/4〉) and odd SU(1,1) coherent state (|ζ,3/4〉) correspond to squeezed vacuum state and squeezed one photon number state, respectively. It is shown that the superposed states can exhibit much stronger squeezing and antibunching for the suitable phase of ζ and the relative phase in superposition. We also propose a method of generating such superposed states.
