Emulation of n -photon Jaynes-Cummings and anti-Jaynes-Cummings models via parametric modulation of a cyclic qutrit

Alexandre V. Dodonov, Anna Napoli, Benedetto Militello

We study a circuit QED setup involving a single cavity mode and a cyclic qutrit whose parameters are time modulated externally. It is shown that in the dispersive regime this system behaves as a versatile platform to implement effective $n$-photon Jaynes-Cummings (JC) and anti-Jaynes-Cummings (AJC) models by suitably setting the modulation frequency. The atomic levels and the cavity Fock states involved in the effective Hamiltonians can be controlled through adjustment of the system parameters, and different JC and AJC interactions can be implemented simultaneously using multitone modulations. Moreover, one can implement some models that go beyond simple JC and AJC-like interaction, such as multiphoton coupling between certain entangled states. We estimate analytically the associated transition rates and study numerically the dynamics in the presence of Markovian dissipation, demonstrating that lower-order effective Hamiltonians can be implemented with current technology.

Entanglement in a squeezed two-level atom

Shigeru Furuichi, Mahmoud Abdel‐Aty

In a previous paper, we adopted the method using quantum mutual entropy to measure the degree of entanglement in the time development of the Jaynes–Cummings model. In this paper, we formulate the entanglement in the time development of the Jaynes–Cummings model with squeezed states, and then show that the entanglement can be controlled by means of squeezing.

Exploring supersymmetry: Interchangeability between Jaynes-Cummings and anti-Jaynes-Cummings models

Ivan A. Bocanegra-Garay, Miguel Castillo-Celeita, J. Negro +2 more

The supersymmetric connection that exists between the Jaynes-Cummings (JC) and anti-Jaynes Cummings (AJC) models in quantum optics is unraveled entirely. A new method is proposed to obtain the temporal evolution of observables in the AJC model using supersymmetric techniques, providing an overview of its dynamics and extending the calculation to full photon counting statistics. The approach is general and can be applied to determine the high-order cumulants given an initial state. The analysis reveals that engineering the collapse-revival behavior and the quantum properties of the interacting field is possible by controlling the initial state of the atomic subsystem and the corresponding atomic frequency in the AJC model. The substantial potential for applications of supersymmetric techniques in the context of photonic quantum technologies is thus demonstrated. Published by the American Physical Society 2024
