Study of atomic entanglement through the evolution of the field in cavity QED

Abstract

We consider the cavity field interacting with two unidentical atoms in a perfect cavity. We study the evolution of the quasiprobability distribution for the field with a view to understand atomic entanglement. Due to the atom-field coupling the Gaussian peak of the initial coherent state evolves into one, two, or three peaks depending on the initial entanglement between two atoms. The dynamical evolution of the field also depends on the statistical nature of the state of the atoms.

Single-Mode Cavity-QED of a Raman Interaction

N. Nayak, Saad S. M. Hassan, Biswas, T.

We consider a single Rydberg atom having two degenerate levels interacting with the radiation field in a single-mode ideal cavity. The transition between the levels is carried out by a $Λ$-type degenerate two-photon process via a third level far away from single-photon resonance. At the start of interaction, the atom is considered to be in a coherent superposition of its two levels and the field in a coherent state. We study the dynamics of the atomic as well as the field states. The squeezing in the quadratures of atomic states can reach up to $100\%$. The cavity field evolves to a statistical mixture of two coherent fields with the phase difference between them decided by the interaction time. Analysis of entropies of the atom and the field shows that the two systems are dis-entangled periodically in certain cases.

Evolution of Atomic Entanglement for Different Cavity-Field Statistics in Single-Mode Two-Photon Process

Sudha Singh, Karuna Gilhare

We study the evolution of entanglement for a pair of two-level Rydberg atoms passing one after another into an ideal cavity filled with a single mode radiation field. The atoms interact with the cavity field via two-photon transitions. The initial joint state of two atoms that enter the cavity one after the other is unentangled. Interactions intervened by the single mode cavity photon field brings out the final two-atom mixed entangled type state. We use the well known measure appropriate for the mixed states, i.e. the entanglement of formation to quantify the entanglement. We calculate the entanglement of formation of the joint two-atom state as a function of the Rabi angle, for the Fock state field, coherent field and thermal field respectively inside the cavity. The change in the magnitude of atomic entanglement with cavity photon number has been discussed.

On conditions for atomic entanglement sudden death in cavity QED

Zhong‐Xiao Man, Yun‐Jie Xia, Nguyen Ba An

In this paper, we study the entanglement dynamics of atoms coupled to cavity fields. We consider conditions characterized not only by the purity of the atomic initial state but also by the cavity photon number. By studying three different models within the framework of cavity QED, we show that the so-called atomic entanglement sudden death always occurs if initially the atomic state is sufficiently impure and/or the cavity photon number is nonzero.

Entanglement between qubits interacting with thermal field

Eugene K. Bashkirov, Michail S. Mastuygin

We have investigated the influence of dipole-dipole interaction and initial atomic coherence on atomic entanglement dynamics of two qubits. We have considered a model, in which only one atom couples to a quantum electromagnetic field in a cavity, since one of them can move around the cavity. We have shown that the entanglement arises for all pure atomic state even when both atoms are initially in the excited states. We have also derived that degree of entanglement is enhanced in the presence of the atomic coherence.

Generation of entangled coherent states in cavity QED and its nonclassicality

Chenchao Hua, Shi-Qing Tang

Cavity quantum electrodynamics is the intersection of quantum physics and microcavity optics research. In this paper, we presented a two-mode cavity coupled to a classical field driven by N three-level atoms to prepare entangled coherent states based on cavity QED. In this scheme, we adopt the interaction between the three-level atoms and the two-mode optical cavity, The initial state of one optical field is an odd-even coherent state, while the initial state of another optical field is a coherent state. After considering the time evolution of the initial states with the system, we obtained the specific form of the time evolution of the quantum states and prepared the entangled coherent state successfully. We discussed and analysed some of the nonclassical properties of the optical field and quantum states, including the second-order correlation function and the Wigner function. The results show that when calculating the second-order correlation function, the photons are found to exhibit a sub-Poisson distribution at some points in time. In addition, when observing the Wigner function of the quantum states evolving with time, it is found that there is a negative part of the Wigner distribution at some moments, which implies that the quantum state exhibits nonclassical properties at these certain moments.
