Reply to ‘‘Comment on ‘Generalized deformed oscillators for vibrational spectra of diatomic molecules’ ’’

Abstract

We point out that the condition imposed on the deformation parameters by the preceding Comment [Pan, Phys. Rev. A 50, 888 (1994)] does not affect the validity of the fits of the commented work [Bonatsos and Daskaloyannis, Phys. Rev. A 46, 75 (1992)]. Furthermore, we point out a way of avoiding both the condition on the parameters and the appearance of negative norm states simultaneously.

It is pointed out that deformation parameters in a generalized deformed boson algebra should satisfy some restricted conditions; otherwise negative norm states will appear in the model space.Received 29 September 1993DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevA.50.888©1994 American Physical Society

Generalized deformed oscillators for vibrational spectra of diatomic molecules

Dennis Bonatsos A, C. Daskaloyannis

Using deformed bosons, we construct generalized anharmonic oscillators suitable for the description of vibrational spectra of diatomic molecules. One of them gives the same spectrum as the modified P\"oschl-Teller potential, i.e., the first two terms of the Dunham expansion, while the other is a q deformation of the first, corresponding to summing all terms of the Dunham expansion for vibrational molecular spectra.

The preceding Comment by Yasuda [Phys. Rev. A 79, 016101 (2009)] on our earlier paper [Phys. Rev. A 64, 062105 (2001)] raises several objections about the modified contracted Schr\"odinger equations (MCSEs) to which we reply here. In his comment, Yasuda also questions the possibility of obtaining the exact solution of the fourth-order MCSE due to its indeterminacy. We maintain the opposite, at least from a theoretical point of view.

The assumptions under which the ``no-shift'' theorem of Semon and Taylor [preceding Comment, Phys. Rev. A 50, 1954 (1994)] is valid are examined. For some choices of possible experimental parameters, the assumptions are not satisfied.

This is a reply to the comment by Chung and Chung [J. Phys. A27 (1994) 5037]. We point out that the discussion there is imperfect.
