Abstract

Evolution of quantum packet of single electron in simple one-dimensional system was investigated. The spatial-temporal structures of probability density and Fourier spectra were studied in detail. Fluid-like behaviour of quantum packets and hydrodynamic variables, mean values, oscillations and refocusing are discussed. Packet motion in box with cube potential was investigated also.

Shape and Fourier's spectra of a quantum packet in a box for electron motion with specified initial velocities

Andrey L. Sanin, Andrey T. Bagmanov

Oscillatory motion of quantum packet at the specific initial and zeroth boundary conditions with arbitrary initial velocity is investigated analytically and numerically. Influence of integer and half-integer initial velocities on the spatially temporal properties of solutions has been studied in detail. Hydrodynamical variables such as the probability density, mean values of coordinate and current, phase trajectories for coordinate and current, and Fourier spectra of these quantities were calculated. The behavior of quantum potential and kinetic energy near the nodal point was also analyzed.

Structure transformation of an electron quantum packet under a laser impulse action

Andrey L. Sanin, Andrey T. Bagmanov

Spatial-temporal structure of quantum packet of an electron in an one-dimensional system with impenetrable walls under laser impulse action had been investigated. The coupled equations in partial derivatives for a real and imaginary components of a wave function are solved by the numerical methods. The initial quantum packet is presented in the special trigonometric form with the arbitrary velocity. The calculations of the dynamical variables, its expected values and Fourier-spectra, phase trajectories are performed in details. Influence of a laser impulse duration on the transformation of the initial quantum packet was established. The accurate analytical solutions to the equations in partial derivatives for the free packet at initial trigonometric packet are discussed. These solutions allow us to understand the numerical results of basic part of a paper.

One-dimensional solutions of quantum hydrodynamic equations for an electron packet in free space and electric field

Andrey L. Sanin, Vera G. Ulianova

Quantum hydrodynamic equations are used to describe motion of single electron. The initial and boundary conditions are formulated from the analytic formula for the electron packet in a free space. The numerical integration of equations for the free packet is performed. Then, we investigated the wave packet propagation through the back-ground positive charge, when the electric field is self-consistent. Moreover, we studied the influence of the external harmonic electric fields on the properties of the motion. The purpose of the present work consists in study of the spatial-temporal processes including packets when the quantum wave effects are essential.

Motion, tunneling, and quantum revivals of wave packets into systems with distributed potential and boundary walls

Andrey L. Sanin, A. A. Smirnovsky, Andrey T. Bagmanov

Quantum wave dynamics in systems with potential wells, bathers and outer impenetrable walls has been studied using solutions of time-dependent Schrodinger equation. Numerical integration of Schrodinger equation, calculation of dynamical variables and its average values, Fourier-spectra were carried out for different initial conditions and different relations between wave packet energy and bather height. In non-symmetric wells the oscillations of wave packets are accompanied by multistep discrete tunneling of probability fluid from well through barrier. In double well potential (symmetric wells) the temporal scales of oscillations and tunneling were investigated in details. Influence of additional time-dependent potential on quantum wave packet dynamics in above listed systems is also discussed.

Quantum dynamics of hydrogen-like atom in one-dimensional box with oscillating walls

S. Rakhmanov, O. Karpova, D.R. Rakhimboeva +2 more

The quantum dynamics of a hydrogen-like atom confined in one-dimensional box with oscillating walls is studied. The description of the system is reduced to a one-dimensional Schrödinger equation for Coulomb potential with time-dependent boundary conditions, which is solved numerically.Using the obtained solution, the average kinetic energy and binding energies are calculated as a function of time.It is found that both the average kinetic energy and the binding energies are periodic in time with the period depending on the wall's oscillation parameters. The probability density is also analyzed as a function of time and coordinate.

Dynamical tunneling in a system with non-monotonous potential and impenetrable walls

Andrey T. Bagmanov, Andrey L. Sanin, A. A. Smirnovsky

Dynamical tunneling of a quantum wave packet in the system with distributed potential and impenetrable walls is discussed. This potential is specified as algebraic difference of quadratic and cubed functions. It is limited on finite length and incorporates local minimum and maximum. Potential distribution in the vicinity of local minimum forms asymmetric well, and barrier originates into domain with maximum. Initial Gaussian wave packet is located into the potential minimum and tunneling comes through potential maximum. Numerical integration of Schrodinger equation was carried out at zero conditions on system walls. For high barrier, the wave packet oscillates in the well for a long time and its small portions passes through the barrier. If the barrier height is small, tunneling takes place in a short time interval. Expectation coordinate and field velocity, probability density at separate points as function of time, control of uncertainty relation and normalization condition were calculated in detail.
