Superradiance of the system comprised of two parallel resonant thin layers

Abstract

A cavity-like regime of superradiance for a double-layer medium populated by atoms with the A-scheme of transitions is considered in a semiclassical approximation under the condition that the layers are arranged symmetrically with respect to initial characteristics of the field and atomic system populating the layers. An analytical law for the linear stage of the superradiance process is found that agrees well with numerical solution of the differential equations of the model under consideration for any initial conditions nearly up to the peak of the appropriate characteristic of the field intensity module. For the case of degenerate lower doublet, the resonant character of the dependence of the superradiance pulse time delay on the distance between the layers is studied.

Effect of nearby level on kinetics of superradiance of thin layer: the local-field regime

Igor Viktorovich Ryzhov, А. И. Зайцев

Under analysis is the influence of the local field upon the competition of transitions in the process of superradiance from incompletely excited thin layer of three level atoms ((Lambda) -diagram of the operating transitions). It is highlighted that while the upper sublevel of the lower doublet starts degenerating, there is a superradiant regime, where the combinative transition leads the development of the superradiance pulse, and the time of the pulse delay depends on the parameters of the local field and splitting of the lower doublet.

Effect of the near-lying level on the kinetics of populations in the superradiance of a thin layer: Local-field regime

А. И. Зайцев, Igor Viktorovich Ryzhov

The effect of the local field on the competition of transitions in the superradiance of an incompletely excited thin layer of three-level atoms Λ-diagram of working transitions) is studied. The analysis made proves that the upper sublevel of the lower doublet is initially unpopulated. It is shown that the Raman transition, in the local-field regime, is ahead of the development of the superradiance pulse and causes the transfer of populations between sublevels of the lower doublet.

Effect of the near-lying level on the kinetics of the field of superradiance of a thin layer

А. И. Зайцев, Igor Viktorovich Ryzhov

The effect of the local field on the competition of transitions in the superradiance of an incompletely excited thin layer of three-level atoms (Λ-diagram of working transitions) is studied. Analysis is made for the conditions when one of the sublevels of the lower doublet is initially unpopulated. For an initially unpopulated upper sublevel of the lower doublet, a new superradiance regime is found.

Superradiation in a Medium Consisting of Two Ultra-Thin Layers, Considering the Influence of Homogeneous and Inhomogeneous Spectral Line Broadening

I. I. Ryzhov, E. S. Kovyneva, A. M. Devyatkov

Abstract In a semiclassical approach, we investigate the superradiation of two parallel ultra-thin layers doped with active centers exhibiting Λ-scheme operation transitions in an absorbing medium. The initial population of the upper state of the active centers varies from full inversion to inversion-less superradiation regimes. We demonstrate the resonant influence of interlayer interference of counterpropagating waves on the intensity dynamics of the fields emitted from the bilayer system, depending on the phase factor characterizing the distance between the layers. In this model, both relaxation processes associated with homogeneous and inhomogeneous broadening of the spectral lines of the active centers are taken into account.

Counterpropagating pulse correlation for thin layer of active medium superradiance

Yuri A. Avetisyan

The superradiance of a thin layer of inverted two-level active medium has been investigated on the basis of numerical solution of semiclassical Maxwell-Bloch equations with stochastic initial conditions. The correlation of counter-propagation pulses delay times was analyzed with the account of diffraction divergence of radiation.

Cooperative optical response of a two-layer resonant system

Igor Viktorovich Ryzhov, А. И. Зайцев

According to the semi classical approximation (neglecting quantum correlations between the field and atoms)we investigate resonant and nonresonant optical effects arising in the two-layer medium that consists of three-level atoms with the A-scheme of optical transitions which are prepared so that they can undergo a super-radiant decay of their electronic states. The analytic regularities related to a linear stage of development of super-radiation in high-frequency optical channels of the medium under consideration are given in the article. Raman effect related to doublet structure of the lower level is analyzed.
