We describe the dynamics of an exactly solvable Raman coupled model interacting with two modes of a quantized cavity electromagnetic field. The model consists of a three-level atom in the \ensuremath{\Lambda} configuration whose excited state is considered to be far off resonance and is adiabatically eliminated. The effective Hamiltonian for this system contains products of the transition operators between the two ground-state levels and a field annihilation operator from one mode and a creation operator from the other. This Hamiltonian provides an example of a zero-photon process. We study the atomic inversion and investigate the production of nonclassical effects such as antibunched light, violations of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality, and squeezing.
We study interaction between a pair of indistinguishable two-level atoms and the single-mode cavity field. It is supposed that the pair of two-level atoms is laser cooled and trapped into the ground vibrational state, in which vibrational quantum number
⟨nv⟩=0 . Two Jaynes–Cummings models are investigated. One is the Jaynes–Cummings model with intensity-dependent coupling and the another is the two-photon Jaynes–Cummings model of a pair of indistinguishable two-level atoms. It should be noted that in the present model, at initial moment
t=0 , in intensity-dependent Jaynes–Cummings model the cavity field is prepared in Holstein–Primakoff SU(1,1) CS, while in two-photon Jaynes–Cummings model it is prepared in the squeezed vacuum state. Moreover, at initial moment
t=0 , pair of atoms is supposed to be in the first excited state
∣e1⟩ in both models. By using exact analytical solutions for state-vectors of the coupled atom-field systems amplitude-squared squeezing of the quantized cavity field is examined as a function of the
∣ξ∣ parameter. In this situation, in both models higher-order squeezing has the tendency towards oscillations, but exact periodicity of these oscillations is violated by the analogy with the second-order squeezing.
The interaction of a two-level XYn-spin system with a two-mode cavity field is investigated through a generalized Jaynes-Cummings model in the rotating wave approximation. The spontaneous decay of a spin level was treated by considering the interaction of the two-level spin system with the modes of the universe in the vacuum state. The different cases of interest, characterized in terms of a detuning parameter for each mode, which emerge from the nonvanishing of certain commutation relations between interaction picture Hamiltonians associated with each mode, were analytically implemented and numerically discussed for various values of the initial mean photon number and spin-photon coupling constants. Photon distribution, time evolution of the spin population inversion, as well as the statistical properties of the field leading to the possible production of nonclassical states, such as antibunched light and violations of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality are examined for an excited initial state. It was assumed that the two modes are initially in coherent states and have the same photon distribution. The case of zero detuning of both modes was treated in terms of a linearization of the expansion of the time evolution operator, while in other three cases, the computations were conducted via second- and third-order Dyson perturbation expansion of the time evolution operator matrix elements for the excited and ground states respectively.
We study the dynamics of an N-level atom coupled in a lossless cavity to a single-mode near-resonant quantized field. The atomic levels are coupled by the multiphoton transitions and the coupling constants between the field and the atomic levels are supposed to be intensity dependent. We find the exact solution for the state vector describing the dynamics of the atom-plus-field system. As an illustration we use the model for studying (i) the time evolution of the atomic occupation probability with the initially coherent field and (ii) the light squeezing, when the cavity field is initially in the vacuum state and the atom is prepared in the atomic ‘coherent state’ (a superposition of atomic states).
We study the dynamics of a system composed of two coupled cavities, each interacting with a single Rydberg atom. The interplay between Rydberg-Rydberg interaction and photon hopping enables the transition of the atoms from the collective ground state to the double Rydberg excitation state by individually interacting with the optical normal modes and suppressing the upconversion process between them. The atomic transition is accompanied by the two-photon absorption and emission of the normal modes. Since the energy level structure of the atom-cavity system is photon number dependent there is only a pair of states being in the two-photon resonance. Therefore, the system can act as a quantum nonlinear absorption filter through the nonclassical quantum process, converting coherent light field into a nonclassical state. Meanwhile, the vacuum field in the cavity inspires the Rydberg atoms to simultaneously emit two photons into the normal mode, resulting in obvious emission enhancement of the mode.
An exact solution is found for the collective model of two identical two-level atoms that resonantly interact with a two-mode quantum electromagnetic field in an ideal cavity via two-photon nondegenerate transitions. In the case under study, at the initial moment, both field modes are in the coherent state and atoms are in the excited state. The time dependences of the atomic probabilities, the mean number of photons in the modes, and the statistics and squeezing of the photon modes are studied based on the exact solution.
