Comment on "Ising-model surface tension using real-space renormalization-group methods"

Abstract

Attention has been drawn again by de Oliveria et al. to an interesting relationship between the surface tension and correlation length proposed originally by Widom. In this addendum the relation is derived and discussed for two- and three-dimensional Ising ferromagnets using duality.

Real-space renormalization-group calculation for the surface tension for the triangular Ising model

N -C Chao

Using a modified version of the clusters we proposed recently for the real-space renormalization group, we calculate the surface tension for the Ising model on a triangular lattice. The results are in good agreement with the exact answers.

Ising-Model Surface Tension Using Real-Space Renormalization-Group Methods

Mário J. de Oliveira, D. Furman, Robert B. Griffiths

Approximate real-space (cell-type) renormalization-group methods are used to calculate the surface tension between coexisting phases in two- and three-dimensional Ising models. The results are physically reasonable and show the expected scaling properties near a critical point. However, there are some problems in reconciling the three-dimensional results with the existence of a roughening transition.

Extrapolated renormalization group calculation of surface tension critical exponent in Ising model

T Kotowski, Maciej Suffczynski

A real-space renormalization-group calculation of critical exponent of correlation length and surface tension of the square-lattice nearest-neighbor ferromagnetic Ising model is extended to the cluster size b = 6. The extension allows a more reliable extrapolation for large cluster sizes. Values of the approximate critical exponent are obtained nearer to the exact value.
