SU(2) linear canonical transformation and dynamics in the multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings interaction

Abstract

The formulation of the evolution operator for the multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings interaction in the decomposition form is presented, in terms of the SU(2) rotation transformation proposed by the present author [J. Mod. Opt. 39, 2209 (1992)]. The study of the dynamical evolution of the photon statistics for the case of intensity dependent coupling with m-photon atomic transition exhibits a number of novel features (sub-Poissonian and oscillatory distributions). It is shown that for m=1 the field distribution oscillates exactly in a periodic sequence without the limitation of the large mean photon number n-bar, and that for m=2 the oscillatory distributions emerge at one-quarter and three-quarters of the revival time for the initially high boson excitation regardless of the initial condition of the atomic state.

M. Kozierowski, S. M. Chumakov, J. J. Sánchez-Mondragón

Analytical expressions for the time evolution of the mean photon number and normally ordered photon number variance for the case of an initially thermal cavity field coupled to an initially excited two-level atom with m-photon transitions are proposed. Field statistics in some generalized Jaynes-Cummings models

Surendra Singh

Photon statistics in some fully quantized models of the interaction of a two-level atom with a single-mode radiation field have been studied using the operator equations of motion. Expressions for the photon number distribution and the mean photon number are presented for various initial conditions. It is found that the mean photon number may show decays and revivals of coherence similar to those of the atomic inversion in the coherent-state Jaynes-Cummings model. Application of these models to the study of multiphoton laser, absorption, and emission processes is also discussed.

Physical interpretation of operator dynamics in the Jaynes-Cummings model

A. Bandilla, H.‐H. Ritze

By means of simple mathematical methods, typical properties of the quantum dynamics in the Jaynes-Cummings model are discussed. The methods used allow a clear physical interpretation in the sense of an ensemble average and permit an investigation of the influence of the initial photon distribution width on collapse and revivals. Results obtained by a more sophisticated treatment provide corrections which are on the order 1/ square root N/sub 0/ for N/sub 0/>>1 where N/sub 0/ is the average photon number. The time evolution of the electric field strength and the photon distribution are also studied.>

The dynamical properties in the nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model

YX Huang, Y Wang, Zhan Zhan

The properties of state evolution of the atom, field, and atom-field systems in the intensity-dependent coupling Jaynes-Cummings Model with an additional Kerr medium are investigated by using the distance between density operators. The effects of nonlinearity interaction of Kerr medium and the average photon number of initial coherent field on the dynamical behaviour of the quantum system are discussed in comparison with the one-photon Jaynes-Cummings model with an additional Kerr medium.
