Abstract

The authors compute the lowest excitations of the spectra of the three-state Potts quantum chain with periodic and twisted boundary conditions. These spectra can be understood in terms of eighteen irreducible representations of the Virasoro algebra with c=4/5.

Operator content of the Blume-Capel quantum chain

Deborah Brasil Balbao, J. R. Drugowich de Felício

The authors calculated the conformal anomaly number of the Blume-Capel quantum chain via finite-size corrections to the ground-state energy. In addition they compute, at the tricritical point, the lowest excitations of the spectrum to be compared with the theoretical description in terms of the irreducible representations of the corresponding Virasoro algebra.

EXACT SPECTRUM OF THE INTEGRABLE 3-STATE POTTS CHAIN

Giuseppe Albertini, Srinandan Dasmahapatra, Barry M. McCoy

From a system of Bethe-Ansatz equations, the spectrum of low-lying excitations is found for the 3-state Potts chain in its ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic version. In both cases, only massless excitations appear and their dispersion relations are computed.

The spectra of quantum chains with free boundary conditions and Virasoro algebras

G von Gehlen, V. Rittenberg

At the critical point the spectra of quantum chains with periodic and twisted boundary conditions are described by irreducible representations of two Virasoro algebras with the same central charge. The authors show that in the case of free boundary conditions, the spectra can be understood in terms of irreducible representations of a single Virasoro algebra. For the Ising and the three-state Potts models, the corresponding irreducible representations are identified.

Algebraic structure of translation-invariant spin-1/2xxzandq-Potts quantum chains

Dan Lévy

Spin-1/2 xxz and q-Potts quantum chains with translation-invariant boundary conditions are analyzed as representations of the periodic Temperley-Lieb-Jones algebra. A connection with the affine Hecke algebra is established and used to find the irreducible content. This analysis provides an explanation for both the degeneracies and the overlap in the spectra of these models.
