Abstract

Abstract A useful representation for the Callen identity in the case of spin‐1/2 is introduced by a simple technique. The phase diagrams and percolation problems of the diluted Ising lattice with arbitrary coordination number z are also discussed.

Phase diagrams of the spin‐1/2 transverse ising model with random interactions

E. El Mir, M. Saber

Abstract The phase diagrams of the spin‐1/2 transverse Ising model with random interactions are investigated within the framework of the effective field theory using an improved configurational averaging procedure. General formulae, applicable to lattices with coordination number z, are given. Numerical results are presented for a simple cubic lattice. It is found that the effects of a transverse field on the phase diagrams exhibit a number of interesting phenomena.

Cluster Identities for the Ising Model as a Basis for Simple Effective Field Approximations Discerning between Various Lattices with the Same Coordination Number

Piotr Tomczak, Enaldo F. Sarmento, Aline Franco Siqueira +1 more

Abstract Identities are proposed for clusters of N interacting Ising spins. For a single spin they reduce to Callen identity, for a spin pair to that of Bobák and Jaščur. It is shown that effective field approximations for spin correlations lead to different Curie temperatures for lattices of the same coordination number but different dimension.

Critical properties of a dilute Ising model in the percolation limit

J. Heinrichs

The critical behavior of the dilute Ising model on a Bethe lattice of coordination $z$ is studied in the percolation limit ($T\ensuremath{\rightarrow}0$) by means of a new moment-expansion procedure. Exact numerical results for the magnetization as a function of magnetic field at the critical concentration, $p={p}_{c}$, are presented for $z=3$ and $z=4$. In particular, the critical exponent ${\ensuremath{\delta}}_{P}$ is expected to agree well for very low fields with the approximate value ${\ensuremath{\delta}}_{P}=2$ obtained by Essam et al. The nature of deviations from the value ${\ensuremath{\delta}}_{P}=2$ is discussed and their consequences are noted. The case $p\ensuremath{\ne}{p}_{c}$ is also discussed.

Phase Diagrams of the Diluted Spin‐3/2 Blume‐Capel Model

Abderrahmane Bakkali, M. Kerouad, M. Saber

Abstract The phase diagrams of the diluted spin‐3/2 Blume‐Capel Ising model on a honeycomb lattice are examined in detail, within the framework of an effective field theory based on the use of a probability distribution that correctly accounts for the single site kinematic relations. The thermal variation of the magnetization, the quadrupolar moment, and the higher‐order moment near critical concentrations are also investigated.

One‐ and Two‐Spin Cluster Approximations for the Site‐Diluted Spin‐1 Ising Model

A. Bobák, S. Mockovčiak, J. Sivuľka

Abstract One‐ and two‐spin cluster approximations employing the differential operator technique are applied to study the second‐order phase boundaries for a quenched site‐diluted spin‐1 Ising model. The critical concentration below which the transition temperature reduces to zero is determined for the honeycomb, square, and simple cubic lattices. The results are compared to those of the site‐diluted spin‐1/2 Ising model.

Mixed-spin Ising model on the Bethe lattice

N. R. da Silva, Silvio R. A. Salinas

We obtain the phase diagram of a ferromagnetic mixed Ising system, consisting of spin-1/2 and spin-S variables, on a Bethe lattice of coordination number z, with nearest-neighbor exchange interactions and single-ion terms. The problem is formulated as a discrete nonlinear map. There is a tricritical point for S integer and z\ensuremath{\ge}5. In the infinite-coordination-number limit, we regain the results of an exact calculation for a Curie-Weiss version of the model.

The critical behavior of the dilute Ising model on a Bethe lattice of coordination zzz is studied in the percolation limit ($T\ensuremath{\rightarrow}0$) by means of a new moment-expansion procedure. Exact numerical results for the magnetization as a function of magnetic field at the critical concentration, p=pcp={p}_{c}p=pc, are presented for z=3z=3z=3 and z=4z=4z=4. In particular, the critical exponent ${\ensuremath{\delta}}_{P}$ is expected to agree well for very low fields with the approximate value ${\ensuremath{\delta}}_{P}=2$ obtained by Essam et al.
