Abstract

In this paper several non‐classical properties are described such as the entanglement of bipartite system in the multimode cavities, described by the Jaynes‐Cummings as well as the Tavis‐Cummings model. The modes are described quantum mechanically, which helps to bring out the non‐classical features emerging from the interaction of atoms with the cavity modes. Effects such as the growth of the magnitude of atomic entanglement with the increase of the cavity photon number, arising out of the intensity dependent atom‐cavity coupling lead to interesting dissimilarities from the case of entanglement generated by the standard Jaynes‐Cummings interaction. The dynamics of a single Rydberg atom in an n‐mode cavity are also described by oscillations at the rate of the interaction strength of the atom‐field interaction, Finally, we investigate the entanglement dynamics in the presence of cavity dissipation under single mode Tavis‐Cummings interaction. The atom‐photon interactions and the generation of entanglement mediated through them are expected to play an important role in possible future practical realizations in the field of quantum communications for various atom‐photon interaction models considered under single or multimode cavity.

Effects of cavity-field statistics on atomic entanglement in a two-mode Jaynes–Cummings model with intensity-dependent coupling

Sudha Singh, Amrita Amrita

We study the entanglement properties of a pair of two-level Rydberg atoms passing one after another into a lossless cavity with two modes. The atoms interact with the cavity field via an intensity-dependent, non-degenerate two-photon transition. The initial joint state of two successive atoms that enter the cavity is unentangled. Interactions mediated by the two-mode cavity photon field result in the final two-atom mixed entangled type state. The entanglement of formation of the joint two-atom state as a function of the Rabi angle, gt, is calculated for the two-mode Fock state field, coherent field, and thermal field, respectively, inside the cavity. The change in the magnitude of atomic entanglement with cavity photon number in two modes has been studied.

COLLAPSE AND REVIVAL OF ATOMIC ENTANGLEMENT IN AN INTENSITY DEPENDENT JAYNES–CUMMINGS INTERACTION

Papri Saha, A. S. Majumdar, Sudha Singh +1 more

The evolution of entanglement of a bipartite spin-1/2 system coupled to a micromaser cavity field in an intensity-dependent Jaynes–Cummings model is studied in this paper. The dynamical process of the entanglement is investigated for different cavity fields. We find that the interactions lead to a phenomenon of periodic entanglement and disentanglement between the qubits. Effects such as the growth of the magnitude of atomic entanglement with the increase of the cavity photon number, arising out of the intensity-dependent atom-cavity coupling lead to interesting dissimilarities from the case of entanglement generated by the standard Jaynes–Cummings interaction.

Entropy and entanglement in the Jaynes–Cummings model with effects of cavity damping

A.‐S. F. Obada, H. A. Hessian, A.‐B. A. Mohamed

The temporal evolution of entanglement for a single-mode field interacting with a two-level atom via intensity-dependent coupling in the off-resonant case has been studied, where the leakage of photon through the cavity is taken into account. The effects of cavity damping on the coherence properties of the atom and the field are studied. The amount of entanglement is compared with the total correlations. It is found that the atom–field system is inhibited from going into a pure state in the off-resonant case.

Adiabatic entanglement in two-atom cavity QED

Constantinos Lazarou, B. M. Garraway

We analyze the problem of a single mode field interacting with a pair of two level atoms. The atoms enter and exit the cavity at different times. Instead of using constant coupling, we use time-dependent couplings which represent the spatial dependence of the mode. Although the system evolution is adiabatic for most of the time, a previously unstudied energy crossing plays a key role in the system dynamics when the atoms have a time delay. We show that conditional atom-cavity entanglement can be generated, while for large photon numbers the entangled system has a behavior which can be mapped onto the single atom Jaynes-Cummings model. Exploring the main features of this system we propose simple and fairly robust methods for entangling atoms independently of the cavity, for quantum state mapping, and for implementing SWAP and controlled-NOT (CNOT) gates with atomic qubits.

Effects of noise on entanglement dynamics in atom-field interactions

Hünkar Kayhan

The entanglement dynamics in a system of the interaction of an atom with a single-mode cavity field in the presence of noise is studied by the Jaynes-Cummings model. Random phase telegraph noise is considered as the noise in the interaction and an exact solution to the model under this noise is obtained. The obtained solution is used to investigate the entanglement dynamics of the atom-field interaction. The mutual entropy is adopted for the quantification of the entanglement in the interaction. It is found that the entanglement is a non monotonic function of the intensity of the noise. The degree of the entanglement decreases to a minimum value for an optimal intensity of the noise and then increases for a sufficiently large intensity.

Effect of an external radiation field on the properties of the atoms and cavity field in the two-atom Tavis–Cummings model

Wang Zhong-Chun, Wang Qi, Zhang Yong-Sheng +1 more

We study the properties of atoms and cavity field in the two-atom Tavis–Cummings model where the two atoms interact with each other and are also driven by an external classical field. We consider the special case that the cavity is initially in a coherent state. The atomic inversion, the average photons number and the Mandel parameter in the driven Tavis–Cummings model are given and analysed numerically. We pay special attention to the dynamical behaviour of the atoms and the cavity field modified by the external field.
