Entanglement swapping with non-Gaussian resources

Abstract

We investigate the entanglement swapping of non-Gaussian states, including squeezed number states, two-mode photon-added states, and two-mode photon-subtracted squeezed states and analyze the entanglement of the swapped states by adopting logarithmic negativity as the measure of entanglement. Furthermore, we examine the fidelity of teleportation protocols for different input states where the swapped states serve as the quantum channel. All these results are compared with that obtained in the case of Gaussian two-mode squeezed vacuum.

ENTANGLEMENT SWAPPING OF PAIR CAT STATES

Ye-Qi Zhang, Jing‐Bo Xu

We investigate the entanglement swapping of the continuous variable states by taking the pair Schrödinger cat states as the input entangled states, in which the two-mode squeezed vacuum and the pair cat states serve as the quantum channel, respectively. The entanglement of the initial states as well as the final states is analyzed by adopting the logarithmic negativity as the measure of entanglement. The quantum teleportation task by exploiting the swapped states as the quantum channel is also considered, where a coherent state serves as the target state and the average fidelity is examined.

Non-Gaussian entanglement swapping

Fabio Dell’Anno, Daniela Buono, Gaetano Nocerino +2 more

We investigate the continuous-variable entanglement swapping protocol in a non-Gaussian setting, with non- Gaussian states employed either as entangled inputs and/or as swapping resources. The quality of the swapping protocol is assessed in terms of the teleportation fidelity achievable when using the swapped states as shared entangled resources in a teleportation protocol. We thus introduce a two-step cascaded quantum communication scheme that includes a swapping protocol followed by a teleportation protocol. The swapping protocol is fed by a general class of tunable non-Gaussian states, the squeezed Bell states, which, by means of controllable free parameters, allows for a continuous morphing from Gaussian twin beams up to maximally non-Gaussian squeezed number states. In the realistic instance, taking into account the effects of losses and imperfections, we show that as the input two-mode squeezing increases, optimized non-Gaussian swapping resources allow for a monotonically increasing enhancement of the fidelity compared to the corresponding Gaussian setting. This result implies that the use of non-Gaussian resources is necessary to guarantee the success of continuous-variable entanglement swapping in the presence of decoherence.

Entanglement properties of non-Gaussian resources generated via photon subtraction and addition and continuous-variable quantum-teleportation improvement

Yang Yang, Fuli Li

The entanglement properties of non-Gaussian states are investigated, which are obtained by performing the photon addition, photon subtraction, photon-addition-then-subtraction, and photon-subtraction-then-addition operations on the two-mode squeezed vacuum state. We show that the partial von Neumann entropy of all the resulting states is greater than that of the original squeezed state, but only the photon-subtracted states and the photon-added-then-subtracted states have the stronger Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlation than the original squeezed state. Quantum teleportation of Braunstein and Kimble protocol is studied for coherent states, squeezed states, and mixed Gaussian states with the non-Gaussian entangled resources. For all the states to be teleported, the fidelity with the photon-subtracted and the photon-added-then-subtracted entangled resources is higher than that with the two-mode squeezed vacuum resource. Based on Bures fidelity, we find that quantum teleportation for mixed and classical single-mode Gaussian states is more faithful than for single-mode Gaussian states with high purity and nonclassicality.

Superiority of photon subtraction to addition for entanglement in a multimode squeezed vacuum

Tamoghna Das, R. Prabhu, Aditi Sen +1 more

We investigate the entanglement patterns of photon-added and photon-subtracted four-mode squeezed vacuum states. Entanglements in different scenarios are analyzed by varying the number of photons added or subtracted in certain modes, which are referred to as the ``player'' modes, the others being ``spectators.'' We find that the photon-subtracted state can give us higher entanglement than the photon-added state which is in contrast to the two-mode situation. We also study the logarithmic negativity of the two-mode reduced density matrix obtained from the four-mode state which again shows that the state after photon subtraction can possess higher entanglement than that of the photon-added state, and we then compare it to that of the two-mode squeezed vacuum state. Moreover, we examine the non-Gaussianity of the photon-added and photon-subtracted states to find that the rich features provided by entanglement cannot be captured by the measure of nonclassicality.

Optimizing realistic continuous-variable quantum teleportation with non-Gaussian resources

Ankita, Arpita Chatterjee

In this work, we investigate the performance of non-Gaussian entangled resources in continuous-variable quantum teleportation within a realistic setting. We describe the characteristic functions of three distinct entangled resources, a two-mode squeezed vacuum state, a two-mode photon-subtracted squeezed state, and a two-mode photon-added squeezed state. We extend the theoretical analysis by Yang et al. to include the realistic experimental conditions such as photon losses, imperfect measurements which typically affect continuous-variable quantum teleportation. Our results demonstrate that even in non-ideal situations, the photon-subtracted squeezed state outperforms the other two resources in the low squeezing regime, keeping fidelity above the classical threshold that suggests the robustness of photon-subtracted squeezed state in practical teleportation applications. We further analyze the EPR correlations of these entangled resources, revealing that the photon-subtracted squeezed state exhibits stronger EPR correlations than the original two-mode squeezed vacuum state and the two-mode photon-added squeezed state. This study merges theoretical models with realistic imperfections and utilizes non-Gaussian entanglement into high-fidelity quantum teleportation.

Non-Gaussian entangled states and quantum teleportation of Schrödinger-cat states

Kaushik Parasuram Seshadreesan, Jonathan P Dowling, G. S. Agarwal

In continuous-variable quantum information, non-Gaussian entangled states that are obtained from Gaussian entangled states via photon subtraction are known to contain more entanglement. This makes them better resources for quantum information processing protocols, such as, quantum teleportation. We discuss the teleportation of non-Gaussian, non-classical Schrödinger-cat states of light using two-mode squeezed vacuum light that is made non-Gaussian via subtraction of a photon from each of the two modes. We consider the experimentally realizable cat states produced by subtracting a photon from the single-mode squeezed vacuum state. We discuss two figures of merit for the teleportation process, (a) the fidelity, and (b) the maximum negativity of the Wigner function at the output. We elucidate how the non-Gaussian entangled resource lowers the requirements on the amount of squeezing necessary to achieve any given fidelity of teleportation, or to achieve negative values of the Wigner function at the output.
