Abstract

The factorization method, related to supersymmetry in quantum mechanics and Lie algebras, is revisited, and the representations and properties of ladder operators originated from “natural” and “nonnatural” boundary conditions is discussed. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Exact solution to a general quantum mechanical problem with time-dependent boundary conditions

Rafael Almeida, Daniel A. Morales

Exact analytical solutions are found for the quantum mechanical problem of a particle subject to a time-dependent potential with time-dependent boundary conditions. The method of solution employs time-dependent invariants, rescaling of space and time variables along with an unitary transformation. Several applications are discussed. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Quant Chem 63: 827–833, 1997

The Morse oscillator generalised from supersymmetry

Elso Drigo Filho

Using the factorisation method in supersymmetric quantum mechanics the author determines new potentials from the Morse oscillator. This method is applied although the ladder operators are not used.

Some properties of reduced density operators

R. L. Hudson

Some questions concerning reduced density operators are reviewed. A new proof of the condition for Fermionic N-representability of one-particle density operators is given which is based on the functional analytic method of the dual cone. The application of a quantum analog of de Finetti's theorem to the interpretation of quantum theory is described. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Quant Chem 74: 595–599, 1999

On the properties of cumulant expansions

K. Kladko, Peter Fulde

Cumulants represent a natural language for expressing macroscopic properties of a solid. We show that cumulants are subject to a nontrivial geometry. This geometry provides an intuitive understanding of a number of cumulant relations which have been obtained so far by using algebraic considerations. We give general expressions for their infinitesimal and finite transformations and represent a cumulant wave operator through an integration over a path in the Hilbert space. Cases are investigated where this integration can be done exactly. An expression of the ground-state wave function in terms of the cumulant wave operator is derived. In the second part of the article, we derive the cumulant counterpart of Faddeev's equations and show its connection to the method of increments. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
