Background. The Hubbard model is widely used for description of strongly correlated electronic systems. Various approximate methods are used for investigation of these systems. The purpose of this paper is to investigate nanosystems within the Hubbard model by the method of motion equations for creation operators. Materials and methods. The mean field approximation allows to obtain a closed system of differential equations for finding creation operators. The Green’s functions, correlation functions and an energy spectrum of nanosystem can be calculated using creation operators. Results. The developed approaches for finding the Green’s functions within the Hubbard model by the mean field approximation were used to obtain the Green’s functions of dimer, hexagon, pentagon and fullerene С20. Conclusions. This work demonstrates that the energy spectrum of a nanosystem, obtained within the Hubbard model by the mean field approximation, is similar to the energy spectrum of this system, obtained within the Huckel model. This work also demonstrates that the Huckel model can be regarded as the Hubbard model within the mean field approximation.

Gossamer supercoductivity and the mean field approximation of a new effective Hubbard model

Yue Yu

We construct a new effective two-dimensional Hubbard model by taking the different electron occupancy on site into account. The mean field state of the new Hamiltonian gives rise to the gossamer superconducting state proposed by Laughlin recently(cond-mat/0209269).

Efficient Dynamical Mean Field Simulation of the Holstein-Hubbard Model

Philipp Werner, Andrew J. Millis

We present a method for solving impurity models with electron-phonon coupling, which treats the phonons efficiently and without approximations. The algorithm is applied to the Holstein-Hubbard model in the dynamical mean field approximation, where it allows access to strong interactions, very low temperatures, and arbitrary fillings. We show that a renormalized Migdal-Eliashberg theory provides a reasonable description of the phonon contribution to the electronic self-energy in strongly doped systems, but fails if the quasiparticle energy becomes of order of the phonon frequency.
