Abstract

We extend the method of searching ``eigen-operator" of the square of the Schrödinger operator to the interaction picture, which not only helps to construct Hamiltonians of two kinds of parametric amplifiers but also leads to a new uncertainty relation regarding to the free Hamiltonian and the interacting Hamiltonian.

Determining Energy Eigenvalues of Dynamic Systems by Finding ‘Eigen-operator’ of Square of Schrödinger Operator

Fan Hong‐Yi, Xuefen Xu, Li Chao

A newly transparent approach for determining energy eigenvalues is proposed, which is finding the 'eigenoperator' of the square of the Schrodinger operator. As three examples, we discuss the energy level of a nondegenerate parametric amplifier, an angular momentum system and a ring shape of coupled oscillators.

Projection-operator method in the interaction picture

JOSIP SEKE

It is shown that if in the projection-operator method an expansion in powers of the interaction Hamiltonian is in view, the usage of the interaction picture is more advantageous than the Schr\"odinger picture. This is also demonstrated in an example.

Quantum Theory of Parametric Amplification. II

B. R. Mollow, Roy J. Glauber

The analysis of the quantum-mechanical parametric amplifier begun in the preceding paper is extended to describe the joint quantum state of the two interacting modes of oscillation of the system. Equations are derived for the time evolution of the Schr\"odinger density operator. Comparison with classical theory is made by describing the state of the quantum-mechanical system by means of the $P$ representation. The time evolution of the weight function $P(\ensuremath{\alpha}, \ensuremath{\beta}, t)$ for this representation, and of the corresponding Wigner distribution function $W(\ensuremath{\alpha}, \ensuremath{\beta}, t)$, is found. A decoupled form for the equations of motion for the field variables is exhibited which simplifies the solutions for these functions. It is shown that the amplification process gives rise to a correlation between the two mode amplitudes which becomes exceedingly strong with increasing time. The relation of this correlation to the time development of the functions $P(\ensuremath{\alpha}, \ensuremath{\beta}, t)$ and $W(\ensuremath{\alpha}, \ensuremath{\beta}, t)$ is discussed.

Coherent States and the Magnetic Operators

A. D. Jannussis, Loucas C. Papaloucas

In the present paper a method of calculation of the density matrix in the Schrödinger picture is given, in terms of the known creation and annihiliation operators a+ and a. New magnetic operators are given with the help of the coherent states, which depend on two free parameters μ and ν. For the case μ=ν= (e H )/ (2 ħ c), these operators lead to the well-known magnetic operators, as they are given in the current litterature.
