Abstract

The three-color continuous-variable entanglement directly produced by a cascaded nonlinear process in an optical superlattice was investigated theoretically. This cascaded nonlinear process can be realized by using quasi-phase-matching technique in a quasiperiodic superlattice. In the first step, signal- and idle-beams can be generated by a parametric down-conversion. Then, the third beam can be obtained through sum-frequency of idle and pump. The degree of quadrature phase amplitude correlations between the three modes was discussed by a sufficient inseparability criterion with a single inequality for continuous-variable entanglement.

Generation of three-mode continuous-variable entanglement by cascaded nonlinear interactions in a quasiperiodic superlattice

The generation of three-mode continuous-variable entanglement in a quasiperiodically optical superlattice is studied theoretically in this paper. This work is based on the previous experiment result in which three-color light generated from a quasiperiodically optical superlattice through a stimulated parametric down-conversion cascaded with a sum-frequency process. The degree of quadrature phase amplitude correlations, a nonclassical characteristic, among the three mode was discussed by a sufficient inseparability criterion for continuous-variable entanglement, which was proposed by van Loock and Furusawa.

Bright three-color continuous-variable entanglement generated by a cascaded sum-frequency process in an optical cavity

Youbin Yu, Huaijun Wang

Bright three-color continuous-variable (CV) entanglement generated by a cascaded sum-frequency process in an optical cavity is investigated. The second- and fourth-harmonic beams can be generated by two quasi-phase-matched cascaded sum-frequency processes in a quasi-periodic optical superlattice. Quantum correlations among the fundamental and second- and fourth-harmonic beams are calculated and discussed by applying a sufficient and necessary inseparability criterion for CV three-mode entanglement. Strong three-color CV entanglement beams with a double frequency interval can be produced in this simple system. It is experimentally feasible and may be very useful for applications in quantum communication and computation networks.

Three-color entanglement generated by single-pass cascaded sum-frequency processes

Youbin Yu, Fengmin Ji, Zhongtao Shi +3 more

Abstract Three-color continuous-variable (CV) entangled beams can be produced by single-pass cascaded sum-frequency processes of third-harmonic generation by quasi-phase-matching technique in only one optical superlattice. Firstly, second-harmonic field is generated by the first double-frequency process of the fundamental field. Then, the third-harmonic field can be generated by the second cascaded sum-frequency process between the second-harmonic and the fundamental fields by quasi-phase-matching technique in the same optical superlattice. By using the quantum stochastic method, we investigated the conversion dynamics of the cascaded sum-frequency processes and the quantum correlation nature among the fundamental, second-harmonic, and third-harmonic fields. The results show that the higher conversion efficiency of third-harmonic generation can be achieved with the larger nonlinear coupling parameter of the second cascaded sum-frequency process. We also show that the fundamental, second-, and third-harmonic beams are CV entangled with each other according to the necessary and sufficient CV entanglement criterion. This scheme of three-color entanglement generation without involving optical cavity is easy to realize in experiment. Moreover, the three-color entangled beams are separated by an octave in frequency which has potential applications in quantum communication and computation networks.

Three-colour entanglement produced by the single-pass quasi-phase-matching fourth harmonic generation

Abstract Three-colour continuous-variable entanglement produced by single-pass cascaded quasi-phase-matching fourth harmonic generation is investigated. The fourth harmonic can be generated through cascaded double-frequency processes in a quasiperiodic optical superlattice by using quasi-phase-matching technology. The conversion dynamics of the cascaded double-frequency processes is studied using quantum stochastic methods. The nature of the entanglement is discussed by applying a necessary and sufficient criterion for continuous-variable entanglement. Strong three-colour entanglement among the fundamental, second-, and fourth-harmonic beams with a double frequency interval can be produced without an optical oscillator cavity. This is experimentally feasible and has potential applications in quantum communication and computation networks.

Bright four-color quadripartite entanglement from quasi-phase-matching cascaded nonlinear optical frequency conversion

Junfeng Wang, Bo Liu, Shaopeng Liu +5 more

Abstract We propose an experimentally feasible scheme to produce bright four-color continuous-variable entanglement by intracavity quasi-phase-matching cascaded nonlinear optical frequency conversion in only one optical superlattice. The second, third and fourth harmonics can be generated by frequency doubling of the input fundamental field at frequency , the sum frequency of fundamental and second harmonic fields, and frequency doubling of the second harmonic field, respectively. The entanglement properties influenced by system parameters are theoretically discussed according to the sufficient inseparability criterion proposed by van Loock and Furusawa. Such compact multipartite continuous-variable entanglement has potential applications in quantum communication and computation networks.

Five-partite continuous-variable entanglement generated by cascaded nonlinear processes in only one optical superlattice

Youbin Yu, Renhao Chu, Xingbo Fan +8 more

Abstract We theoretically investigate the generation of five-partite continuous-variable (CV) entanglement through injection-seeded non-degenerate optical parametric amplification cascaded two sum-frequency processes in only one optical superlattice without optical cavities. The idle can be generated by optical parametric amplification of pump and signal. Then, one beam will be generated by the cascaded sum-frequency process of pump and idle, and another beam will be produced by the cascaded sum-frequency process of pump and signal in the same optical superlattice. The phase-mismatching in the cascaded nonlinear processes can be compensated by three reciprocals of the optical superlattice by a quasi-phase-matching technique. The conversion dynamics among the cascaded nonlinear processes is analyzed by using a quantum stochastic method. The five-partite entanglement among pump, signal, idle, and two sum-frequency beams are discussed by applying a sufficient inseparability criteria for the five-partite CV entanglement proposed by Van Loock and Furusawa. This scheme of five-partite entanglement generation with different frequencies has potential applications in quantum communication and computation networks.
