Phase diagram of the one-dimensional t-J model with long-range dipolar interactions

Chen Cheng, Bin-Bin Mao, Fuzhou Chen +1 more

We study systematically the effect of long-range dipolar interactions on the ground-state phase diagram of the one-dimensional model by means of the density matrix renormalization group. While the basic phases described by the Luttinger parameter , namely, the repulsive Luttinger liquid (metallic phase, ), attractive Luttinger liquid (superconducting phase, ), and the phase separation , are similar to those of the conventional model, the presence of the long-range dipolar interactions leads to significant differences. i) At high-density regime, the phase boundaries of these three phases are even pushed to the large- J region; ii) at low-density regime, these phase boundaries shift toward the small- J region and, most importantly, iii) the spin-gap region spreads across the boundary of , suggesting an exotic metallic phase with spin-gap, which is absent in the conventional model. The result indicates that the long-range dipolar interactions have a significant influence on the ground-state properties of the one-dimensional model. Its implication on the pseudogap phenomenon of the hole-doped cuprates is briefly discussed.

Role of long-range interaction on the photon-excited η -pairing of electrons

Xing Lin Yang, Jie Chen, Yabin Yu +1 more

Abstract We report studies on the influence of a time-dependent external driving fields of the photons on a quantum system described by Hubbard model with long-range interactions. Through the exact diagonalization method to calculate the superconducting pair correlation functions, we show that a weak repulsive long-range Coulomb interaction can help enhance superconducting pair correlation function in some parameter space, which may appear in cuprates, while the number of doublons is increased by the attractive long-range interaction. Out of the parameter space, long-range interaction can be harmful to η -pairing and on-site pairing of electrons. Our results may help people find and design new materials with significant enhancement of transient superconductivity induced by light pulse irradiations.

Possible Glassiness in a Periodic Long-Range Josephson Array

Premala Chandra, L. B. Ioffe, D. Sherrington

We present an analytic study of a periodic Josephson array with long-range interactions in a transverse magnetic field which frustrates the superconducting phases. We find that this system exhibits a first-order transition into a phase characterized by an extensive number of states separated by barriers that scale with the system size; the associated discontinuity is small in the limit of weak applied field, thus permitting an explicit analysis in this regime.
