Abstract

We present two schemes for concentrating unknown nonmaximally entangled Greenberger–Horme–Zeilinger (GHZ) or W class states. The first scheme for concentrating the nonmaximally entangled GHZ state is based on linear optical devices. The second scheme for concentrating the W class states can be applied to a wide variety of atomic state. Both of our schemes are not postselection ones and are within the current technologies.

Scheme for Concentration of Unknown Photonic GHZ Entangled States via Linear Optical Elements

Zhang Gang, Yang Ming, Zhuo‐Liang Cao

We propose two schemes to concentrate unknown nonmaximally tripartite GHZ entangled states via linear optical elements. The finial maximally entangled states obtained from our schemes are shared by two or three parties. Our schemes only need polarizing beam splitters and single-photon detectors. In addition, the schemes can be demonstrated within current experimental technology.

Scheme for entanglement concentration of unknown atomic entangled states by interference of polarized photons

Hong‐Fu Wang, Ai‐Dong Zhu, Shou Zhang +1 more

Based on the interference effect of polarized photons, we propose a practical scheme for entanglement concentration of unknown atomic entangled states. In the scheme, two λλ-type atoms belonging to different entangled pairs are individually trapped in two spatially separated cavities. By the subsequent detection of the polarized photons leaking out of the separate optical cavities, Alice and Bob as two distant parties can probabilistically extract one maximally entangled four-atom Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state from two identical partially entangled Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) pairs. We also discuss the influence of cavity decay on the success probability of the scheme. The scheme is feasible and within the reach of current experimental technology.

Generation of GHZ States via Deterministic Entanglement Concentration

Jin Rui-Bo, Libing Chen, Wang Fa-Qiang +1 more

We present the generation of six-particle Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states via deterministic entanglement concentration and generalize the scheme to the case of 2N particles. We show that arbitrary 2N-particle GHZ states can be obtained with certain probability via entanglement concentration. This may provide a new perspective for the preparation of multi-particle GHZ states. This study is also an exploration on the theory of deterministic entanglement concentration.

Scheme for Concentration of Unknown Greeberger–Horne–Zeilinger Entangled States via Cavity Decay

Xiaowei Zhang, Xiang Liu, Tang Xiao-Fang +1 more

We present a scheme for entanglement concentration of an unknown atomic non-maximally entangled GHZ state via cavity decay. In the scheme, the atom trapped in a cavity is manipulated by laser field, so the maximally entangled GHZ state can be obtained by performing certain operation, which can be realized by illuminating the atom in a cavity. Our method is robust against spontaneous atomic decay.

Hyperentanglement concentration for time-bin and polarization hyperentangled photons

Xihan Li, Shohini Ghose

We present two hyperentanglement concentration schemes for two-photon states that are partially entangled in the polarization and time-bin degrees of freedom. The first scheme distills a maximally hyperentangled state from two identical less-entangled states with unknown parameters via the Schmidt projection method. The other scheme can be used to concentrate an initial state with known parameters and requires only one copy of the initial state for the concentration process. Both these two protocols can be generalized to concentrate $N$-photon hyperentangled Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states that are simultaneously entangled in the polarization and time-bin degrees of freedom. Our schemes require only linear optics and are feasible with current technology. Using the time-bin degree of freedom rather than the spatial-mode degree of freedom can provide savings in quantum resources, which makes our schemes practical and useful for long-distance quantum communication.

Scheme for concentration of the unknown GHZ entangled states

Zhang Gang, Yang Ming, Zheng‐Yuan Xue +1 more

We propose two schemes for concentrating unknown nonmaximally tripartite GHZ entangled states via cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) techniques. The finial pure states obtained from the two schemes are shared by two or three parties. Our schemes only require large-detuned interaction between two driven atoms and the quantized cavity mode, which is insensitive to both the cavity decay and thermal field, thus the schemes are well within current experimental technology.
