Realization of adiabatic Aharonov-Bohm scattering with neutrons

Erik Sjöqvist, Martin Almquist, Ken Roger Mattsson +2 more

The adiabatic Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect is a manifestation of the Berry phase acquired when some slow variables take a planar spin around a loop. While the effect has been observed in molecular spectroscopy, direct measurement of the topological phase shift in a scattering experiment has been elusive in the past. Here, we demonstrate an adiabatic AB effect by explicit simulation of the dynamics of unpolarized very slow neutrons that scatter on a long straight current-carrying wire.

Adiabatic optical potential and variational lower bounds on scattering parameters near threshold

Yukap Hahn

The exact elastic optical potential is compared with an analogous potential in the adiabatic approximation, which is shown to give a lower bound on the scattering length. A variational-bound procedure is formulated to estimate the scattering length and also the scattering phase shift near the elastic threshold.

Stimulated Raman scattering in solid hydrogen based on adiabatic preparation of anti-phased state

M. Katsuragawa, Jian Liang, Fam Le Kien +3 more

Summary form only given. Optical processes with strong-coupling and quantum-coherence are opening various new possibilities beyond the limit of conventional optical processes. Recently we have extended these optical processes to a condensed phase using solid hydrogen for stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) process. The essence of the work was the self-evolution of the strongly-coupled coherence using one excitation laser. In the present work we extend the above work to a more controllable scheme using two lasers. The point of the present report is the measurement of the SRS characteristics to the two-photon detuning. We show that the parametric SRS processes favorably occurs on the negative detuning side, in which the coherence can be evolved adiabatically to the anti-phased state coherence.
