Influence of Resqueezing on Nonclassical Photon Statistics

Abstract

The nonclassical photon statistics of one-mode and two-mode combination squeezed states introduced recently by Fan, which have less fluctuation in one quadrature phase than the usual two-mode squeezed states, is discussed. It is found that increasing the degree of two-mode squeezing cannot always increase the photon antibunching depth of these generalized two-mode squeezed states.

Nonclassical photon statistics of two-mode squeezed states

Ching Tsung Lee

The concept of photon antibunching as a manifestation of nonclassical character in single-mode radiation is extended to two-mode radiation. A simple criterion for the existence of nonclassical effects in two-mode radiation is established. It implies that the intermode photon bunching, rather than antibunching, can play a key role in rendering two-mode radiation nonclassical. The two-mode squeezed vacuum states are used as simple examples to illustrate the essential point of the criterion. The criterion is then used to study the nonclassical properties of two types of two-mode squeezed states. A state generated by applying the squeeze operator to the two-mode vacuum first, followed by the displacement operator, is called a two-mode coherent squeezed state. If the order of the two operators is reversed, a two-mode squeezed coherent state is obtained. It is found that the latter has a much stronger tendency to become a nonclassical state than the former, assuming that the parameters involved are all the same. A measure of nonclassical depth of radiation is adopted. It is found that, according to this measure, the effect of squeezing in making two-mode coherent squeezed states nonclassical is not monotonic. Such phenomena do not occur in squeezed coherent states.

Generalized Two-mode Squeezed States

Lu-Bi Deng, Lian-zhou Zhang, Song-gen Sun

A new generalized two-mode squeezed state which has less fluctuation in one quadrature phase then the usual two-mode squeezed state at the expense of increased fluctuation in the other quadrature is proposed. The coordinate representations and normally ordered expansions of the generalized two-mode squeeze operators and are given. The wavefunction of the generalized two-mode squeezed coherent state is obtained. The non-classical properties of the state such as squeezing and sub-Poissionian statistics are discussed.

Nonclassical photon statistics and photon squeezing in the dissipative mixed quantum Rabi model

Xu-Min Chen, Zhe-Kai Chen, Han-Xin Che +1 more

Abstract Nonclassical two-photon statistics and photon squeezing are considered as representative features of the nonclassicality of light. In this work we investigate two-photon correlation function and quadrature photon squeezing in the dissipative mixed quantum Rabi model (QRM), which includes both the one-photon and two-photon qubit–resonator interactions. The quantum dressed master equation combined with squeezed-coherent states is applied to obtain the steady state. Based on the zero-time delay two-photon correlation function, it is found that with the increase of the two-photon qubit–resonator interaction strength the photon antibunching behavior is monotonically suppressed, whereas the photon bunching signature persists. One additional giant photon bunching feature is unraveled at deep-strong two-photon coupling, which mainly stems from efficient successive transition trajectories. The finite-time delay two-photon correlation function asymptotically approaches the unit by raising the delayed time. Moreover, the steady-state quadrature photon squeezing becomes significant at strong two-photon coupling, which may become perfect in the zero temperature limit.

Sub-Poissonian Photon Statistics and Squeezed Quantum States

L. Mandeļ

The statistical fluctuations of light can, under certain circumstances, exhibit a number of interesting nonclassical features. These include photon antibunching, sub-Poissonian statistics, and squeezing, all of which exist only in a quantum field. The three effects are distinct, and do not necessarily go together, although the first two are sometimes mistakenly treated as interchangeable. Both photon antibunching and sub-Poissonian statistics have been observed in experiments on resonance fluorescence from single atoms, which is described. Squeezing has not yet been seen experimentally, although many nonlinear processes are expected to give rise to it. The squeezed state can be recognized in heterodyne or homodyne experiments, where the squeezing becomes manifest as sub-Poissonian photon fluctuations.

Multiphoton model for the interaction of single-mode squeezed-state light with a two-level atom

Shaozheng Jin

Multiphoton interaction of single-mode squeezed-state light and a two-level atom is considered based on the K-photon Jaynes–Cummings model. Time evolution of quantum fluctuation and photon statistical properties of the initial squeezing light are discussed. It is found that through interaction with a two-level atom, larger squeezing levels cannot be achieved in one-photon or multiphoton processes. For photon antibunching behavior of the light field, it is shown that a smaller initial squeezing level and an appropriately larger coherent part of the initial average photon number of the radiation field favor the generation of this nonclassical behavior, especially in the lower-order interaction processes.

Quantum properties of two-mode entangled coherent states

N Ghafourian Momen Razavi, Ali Ahanj, Mohsen Sarbishei

Coherent states are the quantum states, which give the closest description to classical states. Since their superpositions show quantum properties, research on these states has been of great interest. In addition, having nonclassical properties is necessary for quantum correlations. In this paper, we focus on two-mode entangled coherent states which are out of phase, and study the nonclassical properties such as squeezing of quadrature operators, antibunching and oscillatory photon statistics. Then we discuss about their entanglement, which is a quantum correlation in different conditions and compare the results.
