Groups of automorphisms of the canonical commutation and anticommutation relations

Abstract

Observables of supersymmetric quantum mechanics are coded by taking the antisymmetric tensor product with anticommuting parameters. Next the authors define superunitary transformations, which mix bosonic and fermionic degrees of freedom, in order to construct automorphisms of the canonical (anti)commutation relations (C(A)CR). Conversely, every automorphism of the C(A)CR is implemented by an essentially unique superunitary transformation.

A supersymmetric generalization of von Neumann’s theorem

Harald Grosse, L. Pittner

A formulation of supersymmetric quantum mechanics is given and superunitary and generalized canonical transformations are defined acting in a module. Next it is assumed that there are operators that give an irreducible representation of the canonical commutation and anticommutation relations, respectively, and it is proved that two such representations are connected by a uniquely determined superunitary transformation, under suitable domain assumptions. This extends the well-known uniqueness theorem of von Neumann to canonical (anti−) commutation relations using anticommuting parameters.

Supersymmetric quantum mechanics defined as sesquilinear forms

Harald Grosse, L. Pittner

A formulation of supersymmetric quantum mechanics in terms of sesquilinear forms is presented. Otherwise occurring rather complicated domain questions are solved in a simple and natural way. The authors formulate the axioms and describe a number of models. Supersymmetry transformations are implemented as superunitary transformations in a space defined over a Grassmann algebra, generalised Bogoliubov transformations acting in that space are also formulated.

The algebra of Grassmann canonical anticommutation relations and its applications to fermionic systems

Michael Keyl, Dirk-M. Schlingemann

We present an approach to a noncommutativelike phase space which allows to analyze quasifree states on the algebra of canonical anti-commutation relations (CAR) in analogy to quasifree states on the algebra of canonical commutation relations (CCR). The used mathematical tools are based on a new algebraic structure the “Grassmann algebra of canonical anticommutation relations” (GAR algebra) which is given by the twisted tensor product of a Grassmann and a CAR algebra. As a new application, the corresponding theory provides an elegant tool for calculating the fidelity of two quasifree fermionic states which is needed for the study of entanglement distillation within fermionic systems.

Separability condition for composite systems of distinguishable fermions

Hajime Moriya

We study characterization of separable (classically correlated) states for composite systems of distinguishable fermions. In the computation of entanglement formation for such systems where located subsystems are coupled by the canonical anticommutation relations (not by tensor product), the state decompositions to be taken should respect the univalence superselection rule. (The usual entanglement formation taking all the state decompositions measures non-separability of states between a given subsystem and its commutant and cannot detect non-separability between the CAR pair under our consideration properly.) We prove that any fermion hopping terms always induce non-separability. This feature contrasts with the case of tensor product systems where the states with bosonic hopping correlation may or may not be separable. If we transform a given bipartite fermion system into a tensor product system by Jordan-Klein-Wigner transformation, then any separable state for the former is also separable for the latter. We provide a class of U(1) gauge invariant mixed states that are non-separable for the former, however, separable for the latter. ∗ Mailing address:
