A Comparison between Approaches for Deriving Kinetic Equations for a Dilute Inhomogeneous Quantum Gas

Michel De Haan

The kinetic equation proposed by Nacher, Tastevin and Laloë is placed in the general framework for deriving kinetic equations by a systematic analysis of the hierarchy of equations for the time evolution of the Wigner distribution functions (Wdf). We prove that the stationary solution of their equation can be identified with the equilibrium one-particle distribution function in the grand canonical ensemble.

Infinite Statistics and the Gross Pitaevskii Equation

Dewi Yustikasari, Mirza Satriawan

We clarify that an ideal gas obeying infinite statistics cannot undergo condensation. Then we derive the dynamic equation for an identical particle system obeying infinite statistics under external potential and inter-particle interaction. The derivation utilizes the Hamiltonian written in terms of the number operators and the transition number operators. At a very low temperature, where one can discard the dynamics of the excited occupation level, the dynamic of an infinite statistics system can be described by the Gross Pitaevskii equation, similar to the Bose-Einstein case.

Dynamics of Quantum Statistical Condensate

T. Usui

The equation of motion of the quantum statistical condensate, defined according to Penrose-Onsager and Yang, is derived. Oscillations of small amplitude are analyzed hereby, and it is shown that the equations of motion and of continuity of the superfluid and the kinetic equation of the excitation quanta are the appropriate equations in the cases of slight inhomogeneity. Weak interaction is assumed and its existence is taken into account in such an extent that it causes a modification of the excitation spectrum but not any scattering of the excitation quanta. Systems of Bose particles and of Fermi particles are treated.
