A Generalized Kawasaki-Type Dynamics with Spin-Pair Redistribution Mechanism

Abstract

We generalize Kawasaki's dynamics, spin-pair exchange mechanism, to a spin-pair redistribution mechanism, and we present a normalized redistribution probability. As an application, we treat the one-dimensional kinetic Gaussian model and obtain the exact diffusion equation and the temperature-dependent diffusion coefficient. We find that the diffusion process can slow down infinitely near the critical point and obtain the critical dynamic exponent z = 2 that is independent of the assumed mechanism, either Glauber-type or Kawasaki-type.

Glauber critical dynamics: Exact solution of the kinetic Gaussian model

Jian-Yang Zhu, Zhao‐Di Yang

In this paper, we have exactly solved Glauber's critical dynamics of the Gaussian model in three dimensions. Of course, it is much easier to apply in the low-dimensional case. The key steps are that we generalize the spin change mechanism from Glauber's single-spin flipping to single-spin transition and give a normalized version of the transition probability. We have also investigated the dynamical critical exponent and found surprisingly that the dynamical critical exponent is highly universal; that is, for one, two, and three dimensions they have the same value independent of spatial dimensionality in contrast to static (equilibrium) critical exponents.

d -Dimensional Kinetic S 4 Model

Zhu Jian Yan, Yang ZhanRu

A single-spin transitional critical dynamics based on the Glauber theory is used to investigate the d-dimensional kinetic S 4 model. We derive the fundamental dynamical equations by a cumulant expansion, and then, a one-dirnensional model is treated. We obtain approximately the local magnetization and equal-time spin-pair correlation function, in which the terms of k 3 and the higher orders are ignored (corresponding to high-temperature cutoff). These are finally extended to d-dimensional case. In addition, we obtain the critical point k c of d-dimensional S 4 model, and give a relation satisfied by the dynamic critical exponent z and the correlation length critical exponent ν .

Nonuniversal critical dynamics of the alternating-bond Ising chain: Relaxational and diffusive kinetics

James H. Luscombe

Nonuniversal dynamic critical exponents are obtained for both the Glauber and Kawasaki dynamics of the Ising chain with alternating near-neighbor interactions, ${J}_{1}$, ${J}_{2}$, with the exponents related to the ratio of the two interaction strengths. We expand upon the recent work of Droz et al. [Phys. Lett. 115A, 448 (1986)] for the ferromagnetic system (${J}_{1}$>0,${J}_{2}$>0). For Glauber (spin-flip) dynamics we obtain the exact exponent z=1+\ensuremath{\rho} (\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\equiv}\ensuremath{\Vert}${J}_{1}$/${J}_{2}$\ensuremath{\Vert}) which generalizes the result of Droz et al. and is valid irrespective of the signs of ${J}_{1}$ and ${J}_{2}$, where it is assumed that \ensuremath{\Vert}${J}_{1}$\ensuremath{\Vert}>\ensuremath{\Vert}${J}_{2}$\ensuremath{\Vert} (\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\ge}1). For Kawasaki (spin-exchange) dynamics, we obtain dynamic critical exponents from conventional theory which provides a rigorous lower bound for the exponent z. For the case of the conserved (ferromagnetic) order parameter, however, we present arguments that the conventional exponent is exact. We obtain z=4+\ensuremath{\rho} in this case. For ${J}_{1}$>0,${J}_{2}$0 we derive the conventional exponent z=1+\ensuremath{\rho}, whereas for ${J}_{1}$0 we find z=2 irrespective of ${J}_{2}$. A key aspect of this system is the narrowing of the dynamic critical region as compared with the isotropic system (${J}_{1}$=${J}_{2}$). The extra bond periodicity splits the isotropic order parameter into components such that only comparatively closer to criticality does the order parameter become the dominant slow mode. The nonuniversal critical dynamics is intrinsically linked to the nonuniform bond distribution, being shown to arise from a kinetic coefficient which vanishes with a nonuniversal critical exponent. Nonuniversality of the dynamic exponent for Ising systems with inhomogeneous couplings is argued to be specific to zero-temperature critical points.

Nonequilibrium kinetic Ising models: phase transitions and universality classes in one dimension

Nóra Menyhárd, Géza Ódor

Nonequilibrium kinetic Ising models evolving under the competing effect of spin flips at zero temperature and Kawasaki-type spin-exchange kinetics at infinite temperature T are investigated here in one dimension from the point of view of phase transition and critical behaviour. Branching annihilating random walks with an even number of offspring (on the part of the ferromagnetic domain boundaries), is a decisive process in forming the steady state of the system for a range of parameters, in the family of models considered. A wide variety of quantities characterize the critical behaviour of the system. Results of computer simulations and of a generalized mean field theory are presented and discussed.

Critical dynamics of the Gaussian model with multispin transitions

Xiang-Mu Kong, Zhao‐Di Yang

In this paper, we present a multispin transition mechanism, which is an extension of the Glauber one, to investigate critical dynamics. By exactly solving the master equation, the influence of the multispin transition mechanism on the dynamic critical behavior is studied for the Gaussian model with nearest-neighbor interactions on d-dimensional lattices (d=1, 2, and 3). The time evolution of magnetization is exactly calculated, and the exact results of relaxation time and dynamic critical exponent are obtained. Our models are divided into two kinds: one is the spin-cluster transition and the other is the arbitrary multispin transition. It is found that there are different relaxation times, but the same dynamical critical exponent for different kinds of multispin transitions. The results show that the dynamical critical exponents are independent of spatial dimensions and configurations of transitional spins, and that the dynamical critical exponent is the same as that of the Glauber dynamics, and thus give a strong support to the simple single-spin-transition dynamics. Finally, we give a brief discussion on the results.

Competing Glauber and Kawasaki Dynamics

Simone Artz, Steffen Trimper

Using a quantum formulation of the master equation we study a kinetic Ising model with competing stochastic processes: the Glauber dynamics with probability p and the Kawasaki dynamics with probability 1-p. Introducing explicitly the coupling to a heat bath and the mutual static interaction of the spins the model can be traced back exactly to a Ginzburg–Landau functional when the interaction is of long range order. The dependence of the correlation length on the temperature and on the probability p is calculated. In case that the spins are subject to flip processes the correlation length disappears for each finite temperature. In the exchange dominated case the system is strongly correlated for each temperature.
