Abstract

We propose simple schemes for generating W -type multipartite entangled states in cavity quantum electrodynamics (CQED). Our schemes involve a largely detuned interaction of Λ-type three-level atoms with a single-mode cavity field and a classical laser, and both the symmetric and asymmetric W states can be created in a single step. Our schemes are insensitive to both the cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission. With the above system, we also propose a scheme for realizing quantum-information concentration which is the reverse process of quantum cloning. In this scheme, quantum-information originally coming from a single qubit, but now distributed into many qubits, is concentrated back to a single qubit in only one step.

Generation of W-type Entangled Coherent States of Three-cavity Field by Raman Interaction

Ma Song-She

A scheme was proposed to generate the W-type entangled coherent states of three-cavity fields, after comparing the differences between the discrete-variable quantum information and the continuous-variable quantum information and taking into account that coherent states were presently of practical use and readily available. The scheme was based on the degenerate Raman interaction of a Λ-type three-level atom with a single-mode field. Three identical cavities were in coherent states and three identical atoms shared a W-type entangled state initially. Let the three atoms interact with the three cavity fields respectively, selected a proper interaction time and detected the three atoms after exiting from their respective cavity. Then the three-cavity fields were projected onto a W-type entangled coherent states. During the atom-field interaction the atoms have no probability of being populated in the upper level, then the atomic spontaneous emissions could be neglected. Therefore, the coherence of the system might be better maintained. Based on current cavity quantum electrodynamics technique, the scheme could be realized experimentally. The W-type entangled coherent states generated was expected to be useful in the continuous-variable quantum information processing. The scheme was generalized to prepare the W-type entangled coherent states of n-cavity fields (n〉3).

Efficient scheme for atomic entangled states with cavity QED system

Fuli Li

A protocol is proposed to generate atomic entangled states in a cavity QED system. It utilizes Raman transitions or stimulated Raman adiabatic passages between two systems to entangle the ground states of two three-state $Λ$-type atoms trapped in a single mode cavity. It does not need the measurements on cavity field nor atomic detection and can be implemented in a deterministic fashion. Since the present protocol is insensitive to both cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission, the produced entangled states may have some interesting applications in quantum information processing.

Preparation of multipartite entangled states and one-step implementation of 1→M economical phase-covariant quantum anti-cloning in cavity QED

Fanyu Meng, Ai‐Dong Zhu, Kyu-Hwang Yeon +1 more

The scheme for preparing a multipartite entangled state and implementing 1→M economical phase-covariant quantum anti-cloning only by one step are proposed. By using the symmetric and asymmetric interactions between N atoms and the cavity, N-particle Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) and W states are prepared, respectively. Furthermore, a scheme of 1→M anti-cloning is also proposed through preparing the W state. The decoherence from atomic spontaneous emission is negligible due to the excited state of the atom being adiabatically eliminated under large detuning. The scheme is insensitive to the cavity decay due to the cavity only being virtually excited. The experimental feasibility of the present scheme is also discussed.

Conditional Generation of Multiparticle Entanglement via Cavity QED

Shao-Hua Xiang, Shao Bin, Kehui Song

We propose a simple scheme to not only generate GHZ states and W states of the multiparticle but also form a new category of multiparticle entangled states by letting the Λ-type three-level atoms simultaneously interacting with a coherent cavity field followed by the selective measurements on the cavity mode. We investigate the influence of the cavity dissipation on the generated entangled state and discuss the experimental feasibility of our scheme. It is shown that the intensity of the coherent cavity field plays an instructive role in contribution to state preparation process while the cavity decay and the detuning between the atoms and cavity mode result in the deterioration of the generated entangled state.

The n -Qubit W State of Ground-State Atoms Using Cavity QED and Single Photon Detection

Chang-Ning Pan, Zhang Jun-Xiang, Zhao Xue-Hui

We present a simple scheme for the probabilistic generation of the n -qubit W state of three-level systems in cavity quantum electrodynamics. Once the W state is prepared, it will be insensitive to the spontaneous emission of atoms due to the fact that only the two degenerate ground states of the three-level atoms are involved. With time evolution of the system, the success probability and the experimental feasibility are also discussed.

Scheme for Generating a χ-Type Four-Atom Entangled State in Cavity QED

Lin Xiu

We propose a scheme for generating a χ-type four-atom entangled state in cavity QED. In the present scheme, the atoms interact simultaneously with a highly detuned cavity mode with the assistance of a strong classical field. The scheme is insensitive to the cavity decay and the thermal field, which is of importance from the experimental point of view.
