Squeezed states for the Bateman Hamiltonian

Abstract

Recently, De Brito and Baseia [Phys. Rev. A 40, 4097 (1989)] have studied the appearance of squeezed states for the Bateman Hamiltonian. Although the final results obtained in that report are correct, it is our intention to use an alternative point of view, based on a density matrix defined according to the maximum entropy principle, which allows us to reobtain those results in a more general way.

Squeezed states and Shannon entropy

J. Aliaga, G. Crespo, Araceli N. Proto

A wave-function approach to the interaction Hamiltonian for the degenerate parametric amplifier has been recently presented [C. G. Bollini and L. E. Oxman, Phys. Rev. A 47, 2339 (1993)]. We want to show here that a maximum entropy principle density matrix approach can be used to reobtain all the results shown in this reference, and also to avoid the use of a nonproperly continuous generalization of the Shannon discrete entropy.

Bateman Hamiltonian and squeezing

A. L. De Brito, B. Baseia

We show in this report that the Bateman Hamiltonian belongs to the class of quadratic Hamiltonians, in terms of \^a and a${^}^{\mathrm{\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}}}$, that generates squeezed states of the electromagnetic field.

Quantum mechanical squeezed state

R. Muñoz-Tapia

The squeezed states appear in different fields under different forms. Compact operator expressions are given and some of their properties reviewed with the connections between different contexts clarified.

Squeezing and antisqueezing for a harmonic oscillator having a sudden change of mass

B. Baseia, A. L. De Brito, Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato

Following a recent paper by De Brito and Baseia [Phys. Rev. A 40, 4097 (1989)], the generation of squeezing is examined for a harmonic oscillator when a sudden change of mass takes place. The correspondence of such oscillators with the radiation field and some related results, such as modulation of squeezing, are also considered.

Comment on ‘‘Squeezing and antisqueezing for a harmonic oscillator having a sudden change of mass’’

Петер Адам, József Janszky

It is shown that, contrary to the conclusions of a paper by Baseia, De Brito, and Bagnato [Phys. Rev. A 45, 5308 (1992)], a harmonic oscillator can be squeezed by consecutive sudden changes of its mass to and back.

On oscillatorlike Hamiltonians and squeezing

J. Beckers, N. Debergh, Franciszek Hugon Szafraniec

Generalizing a recent proposal leading to one-parameter families of Hamiltonians and to new sets of squeezed states, we construct larger classes of physically admissible Hamiltonians permitting new developments in squeezing. Coherence is also discussed.
