Reflection-induced source correlation in spontaneous emission

We present fluorescence spectra showing that the spontaneous-emission spectrum of a molecule in front of a mirror is not invariant on propagation. We also calculate the cross-spectral density of this light source and show that it does not obey Wolf's scaling law [Phys. Rev. Lett. 56, 1370 (1986)].

Reflection-Induced Light Correlation in Spontaneous Emission in Front of a Mirror

Hiroshi Taniguchi, Hiroshi Yamada, Tamiya Fujiwara +3 more

It is shown that fluorescence spectra from a dye-doped polymer film in front of a mirror exhibit angular and spectral localization effects caused by self-interference in the spontaneous emission. Spectral results obtained experimentally, which are dependent on film thickness, are found to be in good agreement with the calculated results predicted by a semiclassical description.
