GENERATION OF THE N-QUBIT CLUSTER STATE IN THE ION TRAP SYSTEM VIA ADIABATIC EVOLUTION OF THE DARK STATE

Abstract

We present an alternative scheme for generating the N-qubit cluster state in the ion trap system. This scheme is based on adiabatic passage and thus is insensitive to the small fluctuations of the system parameters. During the process of evolution, quantum information transfer occurs only between the ions, and the collective vibrational mode remains in the vacuum state without excitation. Thus, the scheme is robust against phonon decoherence.

ENTANGLEMENT GENERATION AND CONCENTRATION VIA ADIABATIC EVOLUTION WITH TRAPPED IONS

Ping Dong, Gang Zhang, Ming Yang +1 more

We propose two schemes via adiabatic evolution of dark eigenstates in an ion trap system. One is an entanglement generation of multi-ion cluster states, the other is entanglement concentration via entanglement swapping. Our schemes are robust against moderate fluctuations of experimental parameters since we utilize the adiabatic passage in the main procedure. The current idea can be generalized to other systems.

Preparing Cluster States Via Adiabatic Evolution

Zhuang Wei-hai

A scheme for the implementation of cluster states via adiabatic evolution is proposed. In the scheme, the quantum information is stored in the ground states of the multiple-level ions instead of the vibrational mode. Moreover, the decoherence and the instability of the parameter of the experiment are suppressed during the whole procedure since the system is always in the dark states. The present scheme is feasible based on current technologies.

Scalable Generation of Cluster State for Multiple Hot Trapped Ions

Guangling Cheng, Xiangming Hu

We propose an alternative scheme for preparing N-qubit cluster state by using a frequency-modulated laser field to simultaneously illuminate the trapped ions. Selecting the index of modulation yields the selective mechanisms of coupling and decoupling between the internal and external states of the ions. Based on the selective mechanisms, the highly entangled cluster state is achieved. In our scheme, the vibration mode is only virtually excited. Thus the quantum operations are insensitive to the heating and lead to the high-fidelity quantum information processing.

Generation of cluster states in ion-trap systems

We propose two schemes for the generation of four-qubit cluster states in ion-trap systems. The first scheme is based on resonant sideband excitation, while the second scheme does not use the vibrational mode as the memory. The schemes can be realized with presently available ion-trap techniques.

Generation of Atomic Cluster State via Adiabatic Evolution of Dark Eigenstates

Ju-mei Chen, Cheng-Zu Li, Lin-Mei Liang +2 more

We propose a scheme to generate atomic cluster states of arbitrary configuration in the cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) system. The process is achieved via adiabatic evolution of dark states, which only requires adiabatically increasing or decreasing Rabi frequencies of laser. Thus it allows the robust implementation of entanglement against certain types of errors. Our scheme is relatively decoherence-free in the sense that excited atomic states are never populated and excited cavity photon states can be made negligible in certain conditions.

Quantum Phase Gates for Trapped Ions via Adiabatic Passage

Zheng Shi-Biao

We propose a scheme to produce quantum phase gates for trapped ions. Taking advantage of the adiabatic evolution, the operation is insensitive to small fluctuations of experimental parameters. Furthermore, the spontaneous emission is suppressed since the ions have no probability of being populated in the electronic excited states.
