Abstract

Integrating the modules of the controlled phase-flip gate, the distributed entanglement gate, and the simplified entanglement gate, we propose schemes for preparing, linking, and unlinking standard cluster-type polarization-entangled states, which are achieved by performing different operations for cluster-type states consisting of even and odd photons, in company with Hadamard gate operations and other single-photon operations.Mediated by weak cross-Kerr nonlinear interactions, two individual photons interact with each other depending on the assistance of the coherent state in Kerr media.Exploiting homodyne measurement and polarization beam splitters, the photon paths take on a certain ambiguity and photons entangle together in the polarization mode.Assisted by a classical feed-forward, these aforementioned modules can be realized with an efficiency approaching unity.Employing the module of the controlled phase-flip gate, standard even-and odd-photon cluster-type states can be prepared, which are distinguished by the different photons performed by Hadamard gate operations.Linking two or more standard cluster-type states, a new standard cluster-type state can be produced after combination of the module of the controlled phase-flip gate and Hadamard gate operations.Dividing, truncating, or pinching a multi-photon cluster-type state can be accomplished by applying the module of the controlled phase-flip gate and single-photon operations including Hadamard gate operations.. . . . . . .

A GENERATION SCHEME OF THE DISTRIBUTED FOUR-PHOTON CLUSTER-TYPE POLARIZATION-ENTANGLED STATES EXPLOITING THE INTEGRATION OF ENTANGLEMENT GATES AND THE CONTROLLED PHASE GATE

Dong Li, Junxi Wang, Xiao‐Ming Xiu +3 more

We propose a scheme for preparing the distributed four-photon cluster-type polarization-entangled states associated with the integration of the controlled phase gate and two kinds of entanglement gates. Employing weak cross-Kerr nonlinear interactions and Homodyne measurement, two individual photons entangle together based on the bus function of coherent states. Assisted by optical elements mainly including polarization beam splitters, the entanglement of the signal photons is converted from the spatial mode to the polarization mode. The application of classical feed forward provides the high-efficiency to the preparation of Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) states, Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states, and four-photon cluster-type polarization-entangled states. With regard to the four-photon cluster-type state, it can be generated in two distributed nodes with less experimental requirements, integrating the features of three logical gates.

Generation of Cluster-Type Entangled Coherent States via Cross-Kerr Nonlinearity

Wenfeng Wang, Xin‐Yuan Sun, Xiaobing Luo

We propose an optical scheme for the generation of the cluster-type entangled coherent states in free travelling optical fields via cross-Kerr nonlinearity. The required resources for the generation are coherent state source, beam splitters, photodetectors, and Kerr media. We also discuss the implementation of the Hadamard gate operation for coherent states and the homodyne detection.

Generation of four-photon polarization entangled states with cross-Kerr nonlinearity

Meiyu Wang, Fengli Yan

We show how to prepare three different types of four-photon polarization entangled states among four modes. The scheme only use cross-Kerr medium, polarization beam splitters and X homodyne measurements on coherent light fields, which can be efficiently implemented in quantum optical laboratories. GHZ states and symmetric Dick states can be generated in deterministic way based on the scheme. With the possible availability of suitable strong Kerr nonlinearity, another type of entangled state called genuine four-photon entangled state can be realized as well.

Generation of four-photon polarization-entangled cluster states via cross-Kerr nonlinearity

We propose a scheme for generating four-photon polarization-entangled cluster states based on the cross-Kerr nonlinear interaction between field-modes. Compared with other schemes, our scheme introduces the idea of parity gate and uses the non-destructive measurement method based on homodyne detection, which is easier to implement in experiment.

Generation of four-photon polarization entangled decoherence-free states with cross-Kerr nonlinearity

Meiyu Wang, Fengli Yan, Ting Gao

Abstract We propose a theoretical protocol for preparing four-photon polarization entangled decoherence-free states, which are immune to the collective noise. With the assistance of the cross-Kerr nonlinearities, a two-photon spatial entanglement gate, two controlled-NOT gates, a four-photon polarization entanglement gate are inserted into the circuit, where X homodyne measurements are aptly applied. Combined with some swap gates and simple linear optical elements, four-photon polarization entangled decoherence-free states which can be utilized to represent two logical qubits, |0〉L and |1〉L are achieved at the output ports of the circuit. This generation scheme may be implemented with current experimental techniques.

We propose a protocol to generate a four-photon polarization-entangled cluster state with cross-Kerr nonlinearity by using the interference of polarized photons. The protocol is based on optical elements, cross-Kerr nonlinearity, and homodyne measurement, therefore it is feasible with current experimental technology. The success probability of our protocol is optimal, this property makes our protocol more efficient than others in the applications of quantum communication.
