Abstract

We propose a scheme to effectively generate a four-photon path-entangled number state [the NOON state i.e. for the demonstration of four-photon de Broglie wavelength. Our scheme requires only linear optical elements, photon detectors and post-selections which are all within the reach of current technology.

Feasible schemes for preparing all five-photon graph states

Jin Zhang, Xiaoqi Zhou, Yang Tao

We propose feasible experimental schemes for preparing all five-photon graph states. Our schemes require only linear optical elements, photon detectors and post-selection, which are available in current experiment so that these schemes are within the reach of the current technology.

Four-Photon W State Using Two-Crystal Geometry Parametric Down-Conversion

Takayoshi Kobayashi

An experimental scheme for producing a four-photon entangled W state directly from the parametric down-conversion of a two-crystal geometry is proposed. In our scheme, only linear optical elements and photon detectors are required. Sophisticated and fragile interferometric setups are unnecessary.

Multi-photon path-entangled (e.g. “noon”) states: issues in preparation and measurement

Aephraim M. Steinberg

Recent advances make it possible to entangle multiple photons, despite the absence of strong photon-photon interactions. We present experiments generating “noon” states applicable to quantum interferometry, and complete quantum tomography of such states.

Projection measurement of the maximally entangled N -photon state for a demonstration of the N -photon de Broglie wavelength

Fang‐Wen Sun, Z. Y. Ou, Guang‐Can Guo

We construct a projection measurement process for the maximally entangled $N$-photon state [the NOON state $(\ensuremath{\mid}N,0⟩+\ensuremath{\mid}0,N⟩)∕\sqrt{2}$] with only linear optical elements and photodetectors. This measurement process will give null result for any $N$-photon state that is orthogonal to the NOON state. We examine the projection process in more detail for $N=4$ by applying it to a four-photon state from type-II parametric down-conversion. This demonstrates an orthogonal projection measurement with a null result. This null result corresponds to a dip in a generalized Hong-Ou-Mandel interferometer for four photons. We find that the depth of the dip in this arrangement can be used to distinguish a genuine entangled four-photon state from two separate pairs of photons. We next apply the NOON state projection measurement to a four-photon superposition state from two perpendicularly oriented type-I parametric down-conversion processes. A successful NOON state projection is demonstrated with the appearance of the four-photon de Broglie wavelength in the interference fringe pattern.
