Abstract

A scheme is proposed for generating Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entangled states of multiple superconducting quantum-interference device (SQUID) qubits by the use of a microwave cavity. The scheme operates essentially by creating a single photon through an auxiliary SQUID built in the cavity and performing a joint multiqubit phase shift with assistance of the cavity photon. It is shown that entanglement can be generated using this method, deterministic and independent of the number of SQUID qubits. In addition, we show that the present method can be applied to preparing many atoms in a GHZ entangled state, with tolerance to energy relaxation during the operation.

Realization of Greenberg–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) and W Entangled States with Multiple Superconducting Quantum-Interference Device Qubits in Cavity QED

Anshou Zheng, Wan Zhen-Zhu, Bi Jie

An alternative scheme is proposed for generating the Greenberg–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) and W types of the entangled states with multiple superconducting quantum-interference device (SQUID) qubits in a single-mode microwave cavity field. In this scheme, there is no transfer of quantum information between the SQUIDs and the cavity, the cavity is always in the vacuum and thus the requirement on the quality of cavity is greatly loosened. In addition, during the process of the generation of the W entangled state, the present method does not involve a real excitation of intermediate levels. Thus, decoherence due to energy relaxation of intermediate levels is minimized.

Deterministic preparation of hybrid GHZ entangled states with a superconducting qubit and multiple photonic qubits

Liang Bin, Lei Chen, Zheqi Yang +6 more

Hybrid entangled states are essential quantum resources not only for hybrid quantum communication but also for creating robust hybrid quantum networks and processors.By considering a circuit-cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) system composed of a superconducting (SC) qutrit (a three-level quantum system) and n microwave cavities, we here present a method to prepare hybrid Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entangled states of n+1 qubits. The use of a single SC qutrit as the coupler leads to a significant saving in circuit hardware resources. The GHZ state preparation is deterministic without measurement. The operation time for the GHZ state preparation is independent of the number of qubits.Decoherence from the highest energy level of the SC qutrit is suppressed because this level remains unoccupied during the GHZ state preparation. Our numerical simulations demonstrate that the high-fidelity generation of hybrid GHZ states of an SC qubit and three photonic qubits is achievable within current circuit-QED technology. The proposed scheme possesses universality and is suitable for preparing hybrid GHZ states of a matter qubit (e.g., atomic qubit, trapped ion, quantum dot, magnon, NV center, and SC qubit with various types) and multiple photonic qubits across a wide range of physical systems.

Generating entanglement between microwave photons and qubits in multiple cavities coupled by a superconducting qutrit

Chui‐Ping Yang, Qi-Ping Su, Shi‐Biao Zheng +1 more

We discuss how to generate entangled coherent states of four microwave resonators (a.k.a. cavities) coupled by a three-level superconducting device (qutrit). We also show that a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state of four superconducting qubits embedded in four different resonators can be created with this scheme. In principle, the proposed method can be extended to create an entangled coherent state of $n$ resonators and to prepare a (GHZ) state of $n$ qubits distributed over $n$ cavities in a quantum network. In addition, it is noted that four resonators coupled by a coupler qutrit may be used as a basic circuit block to build a two-dimensional quantum network, which is useful for scalable quantum information processing.

Preparation of n -qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger entangled states in cavity QED: An approach with tolerance to nonidentical qubit-cavity coupling constants

Chui‐Ping Yang

We propose a way for generating $n$-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entangled states with a three-level qubit system and $(n\ensuremath{-}1)$ four-level qubit systems in a cavity. This proposal does not require identical qubit-cavity coupling constants and thus is tolerant to qubit-system parameter nonuniformity and nonexact placement of qubits in a cavity. The proposal does not require adjustment of the qubit-system level spacings during the entire operation. Moreover, it is shown that entanglement can be deterministically generated using this method and the operation time is independent of the number of qubits. The present proposal is quite general, which can be applied to physical systems such as various types of superconducting devices coupled to a resonator or atoms trapped in a cavity.

ONE-STEP GENERATION OF GREENBERGER–HORNE–ZEILINGER STATES IN SUPERCONDUCTING QUANTUM INTERFERENCE DEVICES VIA RAMAN INTERACTION

Zhiming Zhan

We put forward a fast scheme for one-step generation of maximally entangled Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states by superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) in cavity via Raman interaction. The scheme only requires a quantized cavity field and classical microwave pulses. One of the key advantages of our Raman-interaction scheme is that an improvement of overcoming decoherence for the preparation of the desired GHZ states can be achieved.

Entangling superconducting qubits in a multi-cavity system

Chui-Ping Yang, Qi-Ping Su, Shi‐Biao Zheng +1 more

Important tasks in cavity quantum electrodynamics include the generation and control of quantum states of spatially separated particles distributed in different cavities. An interesting question in this context is how to prepare entanglement among particles located in different cavities, which are important for large-scale quantum information processing. We here consider a multi-cavity system where cavities are coupled to a superconducting (SC) qubit and each cavity hosts many SC qubits. We show that all intra-cavity SC qubits plus the coupler SC qubit can be prepared in an entangled Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state, by using a single operation and without the need of measurements. The GHZ state is created without exciting the cavity modes; thus greatly suppressing the decoherence caused by the cavity-photon decay and the effect of unwanted inter-cavity crosstalk on the operation. We also introduce two simple methods for entangling the intra-cavity SC qubits in a GHZ state. As an example, our numerical simulations show that it is feasible, with current circuit-QED technology, to prepare high-fidelity GHZ states, for up to nine SC qubits by using SC qubits distributed in two cavities. This proposal can in principle be used to implement a GHZ state for an arbitrary number of SC qubits distributed in multiple cavities. The proposal is quite general and can be applied to a wide range of physical systems, with the intra-cavity qubits being either atoms, NV centers, quantum dots, or various SC qubits.
