Short—Time Critical Behavior Affected by Weakly Long—Range Interactions

CHENYuan, LIZhi-Bing

The theoretic renormalization group approach is applied to the study of short-time critical behavior of the Ginzburg-Landau model with weakly long-range interactions pσsps-p. The system initially at a high temperature is firstly quenched to the critical temperature Tc and then released to an evolution with a model A dynamics. A double expansion in ∈ = 2σ-d and α = 1 -σ/2 with α of order ∈ is employed, where d is the spatial dimension. The asymptotic scaling laws and the initial slip exponents θ' and θ for the order parameter and the response function respectively are calculated to the second order in ∈ for σ close to 2.

Short-range spin- and pair-correlations: a variational wave-function

D. van der Marel

A many-body wavefuction is postulated, which is sufficiently general to describe superconducting pair-correlations, and/or spin-correlations, which can occur either as long-range order or as finite-range correlations. The proposed wave-function appears to summarize some of the more relevant aspects of the rich phase-diagram of the high-Tc cuprates. Some of the states represented by this wavefunction are reviewed: For superconductivity in the background of robust anti-ferromagnetism, the Cooper-pairs are shown to be a superposition of spinquantum numbers S=0 and S=1. If the anti-ferromagnetism is weak, a continuous super-symmetric rotation is identified connecting s-wave superconductivity to anti-ferromagnetism.
