Abstract

We demonstrate process tomography of coherent state transfer. We estimated process fidelity of the state transfer to be 81% and clarified that the phase-flip error is the major contribution to the fidelity degradation.

Process tomography of coherent state transfer from light polarization to electron spin polarization in a semiconductor

We performed process tomography of a coherent state transfer from light polarization into electron spin polarization in a semiconductor quantum well. The density matrix of the generated electron spin state was reconstructed by a three-dimensional tomographic Kerr rotation measurement so that we could quantitatively evaluate the transfer process. We found that the process fidelity of the state transfer was 81% and clarified that the phase-flip error caused by mixing with another Zeeman sublevel at the hole state was the major contributor to fidelity degradation.

We demonstrate that the coherence of the electron spin state, which was transferred from the light polarization state, is tomographically measured in a semiconductor quantum well via the light-hole excitons under in-plane magnetic field by the developed tomographic Kerr rotation method.

Coherent Transfer of Light Polarization to Electron Spins in a Semiconductor

Hideo Kosaka, Hideki Shigyou, Yasuyoshi Mitsumori +5 more

We demonstrate that the superposition of light polarization states is coherently transferred to electron spins in a semiconductor quantum well. By using time-resolved Kerr rotation, we observe the initial phase of Larmor precession of electron spins whose coherence is transferred from light. To break the electron-hole spin entanglement, we utilized the big discrepancy between the transverse g factors of electrons and light-holes. The result encourages us to make a quantum media converter between flying photon qubits and stationary electron-spin qubits in semiconductors.

Fidelity analysis of the photon‐spin quantum state transfer

Yoshiaki Rikitake, Hiroshi Imamura, Hideo Kosaka

We theoretically analyze yield and fidelity of the quantum state transfer (QST) from a photon polarization qubit to an electron spin qubit with a spin-coherent photo-detector consisting of a semiconductor quantum dot. We use the modified one-dimensional light-atom interaction model which include the parameters such as photon-dot interaction, tunneling rate of the created hole and the bandwidth of the input photon and the electron-hole exchange interaction. We find the optimal conditions where both the high-yield and high- fidelity QST is realized. (© 2006 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

We study the quantum state transfer (QST) from a photon polarization to an electron spin. We reveal the condition for high-yield and high-fidelity QST by solving the time-dependent Schrodinger equation.
