This chapter examines the coherence properties of two modes of entangled photons and its application quantum communication and holography. It is proposed novel two-photon entangled sources which take into account the coherence and collective phenomena between the photon belonging to two different modes obtained in two-photon cooperative emission or Raman or lasing. The generation of the correlated bimodal entangled field in two-photon emission or Raman Pump, Stokes and anti-Stokes modes is proposed in the free space and cavity-induced emission. The application two-photon and Raman bimodal coherent field in communication and holography are given in accordance with the definition of amplitude and phase of such entangled states of light. At first, this method does not appear to be essentially different in comparison with the classical coherent state of information processing, but if we send this information in dispersive media, which separates the anti-Stokes and Stokes photons from coherent entanglement fields, the information is drastically destroyed, due to the quantum distribution of photons in the big number modes may be realized in the situation in which the mean value of strength of bimodal field tends to zero. The possibility of restoration of the signal after the propagation of the bimodal field through different fibers, we may restore the common square amplitude and phase.
The two types of cooperative effects between the converted photons in the multiple steps of Raman lasing are proposed. The first type involves the cooperative process between the photons of one of the steps of Raman conversion. The second cooperative effect appears between the photons belonging to different steps of multiple conversions. This new type of generated coherent state is proposed by novel bimodal entangled sources, which take into consideration both the coherence and collective phenomena between the photons belonging to the system of the bimodal field obtained in multiple Raman emissions. For this, the creation and annihilation operators of the new resonator quasi-particle ware introduced taking into consideration the Hilbert space of field vectors at frequency differences, ωp+1−ωp between the anti-Stokes components of multiple Raman lasing. The application of higher-order multiple Roman bimodal coherent field quantum information is described in accordance with the definition of quantum amplitude and phase of such entangled states of light. The cooperative properties of the bimodal field in the multiple scattering processes of Raman lasing in the cavity/fiber and its interaction with ensemble of atoms prepared in coherent state are proposed. We introduced the new characteristics of bi-modes field in which the multiple Raman scattering takes into consideration the interaction with coherent excitation and non-stationary quantum fluctuations of the generation rate of the introduced quasi particles. Here, we represent the rate moments through the annihilation and generation operators of the cavity quasi-parties.
A semi-classical model (classical by the field and quantum by describing biomolecules) is proposed, which establishes the dependence of the DNA/RNA dimerization rate on ultraviolet C (UVC) radiation intensity. The two types of cooperative effects between the converted photons in these multiple steps of Raman lasing are proposed. The first type involves the cooperative process between the photons of one of the steps of Raman conversion. The second cooperative effect appears between the photons belonging to different steps of multiple conversions. Optical response of an active medium can substantially be modified when coherent superpositions of states are excited, that is, when systems display quantum coherence and interference. This has led to fascinating applications in atomic and molecular systems. Examples include coherent population trapping, lasing without inversion, electromagnetically induced transparency, cooperative spontaneous emission, and quantum entanglement. \n \nWe study quantum coherence effects in several quantum optical systems and find interesting applications. We show that quantum coherence can lead to transient Raman lasing and lasing without inversion in short wavelength spectral regions--extreme ultraviolet and x-ray--without the requirement of incoherent pumping. For example, we demonstrate transient Raman lasing at 58.4 nm in Helium atom and transient lasing without inversion at 6.1 nm in Helium-like Boron (triply-ionized Boron). We also investigate dynamical properties of a collective superradiant state prepared by absorption of a single photon when the size of the sample is larger than the radiation wavelength. We show that for large number of atoms such a state, to a good approximation, decays exponentially with a rate proportional to the number of atoms. We also find that the collective frequency shift resulting from repeated emission and reabsorption of short-lived virtual photons is proportional to the number of species in the sample. Furthermore, we examine how a position-dependent excitation phase affects the evolution of entanglement between two dipole-coupled qubits. It turns out that the coherence induced by position-dependent excitation phase slows down the otherwise fast decay of the two-qubit entanglement. We also show that it is possible to entangle two spatially separated and uncoupled qubits via interaction with correlated photons in a cavity quantum electrodynamics setup. Finally, we analyze how quantum coherence can be used to generate continuous-variable entanglement in quantum-beat lasers in steady state and propose possible implementation in quantum lithography.
The paper proposes to unify the two-photon laser and induced cooperative scattering Raman lasing in which the flying ensemble of two-level excited radiators are coupled with the bimodal cavity field in nonlinear two-photon and scattering interactions. It discusses the situation in which the induced two-quantum lasing takes place together with the cooperative scattering conversion of photons between the pump, Stokes, and anti-Stokes cavity modes. The proposed master equation describes cooperative energy exchanges between Raman and two-photon lasing processes by portions of energies multiple to the energy of the entangled photon pair. The generators of such emission and absorption processes belonging to the symmetries of Raman conversion and two-photon cooperative generation are unified. The first symmetry belongs to su(2) algebra connected to the scattering conversion in the Stokes, pump, and anti-Stokes modes of cavity (Opt. Commun.,285(5) (2012) 686–692). The second one belongs to multi-mode su(1,1) symmetry which quantifies the cooperative process belonging to two-photon emission in cavity/fiber mode components of field (see Opt. Commun. 247(4–6) (2005) 381–392). The bimodal collective photon operators are introduced describing the emission or absorption acts of the fixed portion of energy from the cavity equal to the transition energy between the states of each excited atom. A key impact of the study focuses on the statistical properties of the bimodal field and their detection possibilities are proposed for the description of the time evolution of quantum correlations between the field components of Raman conversion and two-photon emission.
In recent years, quantum entanglement has attracted much; attention, because its unique properties provide potential; applications, which could not be achieved using conventional; techniques, such as quantum computing, quantum imaging and; lithography. To realize these advancements, one has to obtain an; entanglement-generation source, thoroughly master its physical; properties, and fully understand the light-matter interaction.; This dissertation is an attempt to address such issues as stated; above.; Conventionally, paired photons are created from; \textit{spontaneous parametric down-conversion} (SPDC). It is; known that the transverse correlation in biphotons may improve the; visibility and resolution in quantum imaging and lithography. In; this thesis, we described an alternative biphoton source --; Raman-EIT (\textit{electromagnetically induced transparency}); generator, and emphasize on its geometrical and optical; properties. We found that to utilize the transverse effects in; paired Stokes-anti-Stokes, it is necessary to make the product of; the EIT window times the group delay much greater than unity.; To gain further insight into quantum imaging and lithography, we; studied the transverse correlation in triphoton entanglement; theoretically. We found that in the two-image process, the quality; of images is determined by the optical path-lengths, even though; the Gaussian thin lens equations are satisfied. The ghost; interference-diffraction patterns of double slits show one more; fold interference, which is essentially different from the; biphoton case. Klyshko's advanced-wave model is still applicable,; with some modifications. We also generalized the transverse; correlation to the case of multi-photon entangled states.; To implement quantum computing, one key element is quantum memory.; In this thesis, we have theoretically explored the feasibility of; such a memory by using nonclassical SPDC light in an EIT system at; the single-photon level. We found that both the quantum coherence; of SPDC and atomic coherence of EIT can survive after interacting; within a vapor cell. Due to the inherent mismatch of magnitude; between the spectral bandwidth of SPDC and the very narrow; transmission width of EIT, the coincidence counts of the; two-photon interference is reduced to one pair per second, which; is barely doable in the current experimental situation.
