We derive a regularized exactly solvable version of the one-dimensional quantum Sine-Gordon model proceeding from the exact solution of the U (1)-symmetric Thirring model. The ground state and the excitation spectrum are obtained in the region β 2 < 8 π.
The phase diagram of the one-dimensional quantum sine-Gordon system (β2=4π) with a linear spatial modulation
The one-dimensional quantum sine-Gordon system with a linear spatial modulation is investigated in a special case, β2 =4π. The model is tranformed into a massive Thirring model and then is exactly diagonalized, the energy spetrum of the model is obtained. Our result clearly demonstrates that cancelling the cosine term without any considering is unadvisable.
From the identification of the easy-plane XXZ spin chain as a ${\ensuremath{\beta}}^{2}>8\ensuremath{\pi}$ quantum sine-Gordon system, the nonlinear elementary excitations of the latter are identified as massless "twists" carrying the topological charge $\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}\frac{{\ensuremath{\beta}}^{2}}{8\ensuremath{\pi}}$, and (depending on ${\ensuremath{\beta}}^{2}$) twist-antitwist bound states.
