Squeezing properties of two-mode atom laser in a system of Ξ-type three-level atomic Bose-Einstein condensate interacting with single-mode light field

Nong Chun-Xuan, Ming Li, Chen Cui-Ling

The squeezing properties of the two-mode atom laser in a system of Ξ-type three-level atomic Bose-Einstein condensate interacting with single-mode squeezed coherent light field are studied. The results show that the two-mode atom laser can be squeezed periodically, and has two types of oscillations: quantum Rabi oscillation and collapse-revival oscillation. The maximum depth of squeezing and the collapse-revival frequency of the atom laser depend greatly on the interaction intensity between the light field and atoms, and the quantum Rabi frequency is largely determined by the frequency of the light field.

Cooperative atomic interactions in a single-mode laser

Sajid Mahmood, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

An equation of motion for the reduced density matrix for the field in a single-mode laser is derived when the single- and two-atom interactions are included. An exact steady-state solution for the photon distribution function is presented and some aspects of the photon statistics are discussed.

Effect of cooperative atomic interactions on the linewidth of a single-mode laser

M. Mardale, Mariana Craiu, Paul E. Sterian

As the laser linewidth arises under the influence of spontaneous emission, it is of considerable interest to find effects that decrease it. In this paper it is considered the effect of cooperative atomic interactions on the linewidth of a single-mode laser. It can be shown by suitably generalizing the Scully-Lamb theory that the cooperative effects tend to decrease the natural linewidth of the laser at high intensities. Considering the interaction of two-two- level atoms with a single-mode quantized field and the effect of cooperative atomic interactions it was obtained an expression for the natural linewidth of the system. Based on the theoretical models we obtain the numerical results for the laser linewidth as a function of the cooperation parameter. We then present a set of graphs by suitably plotting these data and we discuss the results.
