Squeezing in detuned second-harmonic generation

We investigate the effects of cavity detuning on the rotation and displacement of the uncertainty ellipse in cavity second harmonic generation. This is of topical interest due to recent work on quantum tomography, which allows experimental measurement of the Wigner function for light fields. We also investigate to what extent the decrease in quadrature squeezing with detuning can be attributed solely to the resulting depletion of the intra- cavity fields.

Detuning effects in competing nonlinearities

Andrea Eschmann, Monika A. M. Marte

The impact of cavity detunings on the quantum noise properties of competing nonlinearities (second harmonic generation and nondegenerate optical parametric oscillation in the same cavity) is assessed. Previously predicted effects, such as sub-Poissonian pair statistics of twin photons, are shown to survive for moderate detunings of the fundamental or the second harmonic, respectively.
