QUANTUM GROUP SUq(2) FOR COMPLEX q-DEFORMATION

Abstract

q-deformed harmonic oscillator is established for any arbitrary complex q-deformation parameter (with real and imaginary q as its special cases) and the formalism so developed is used to construct the quantum group SUq(2). The eigenvalues of the Casimir of SUq(2) are now real, even for complex q-deformation (q=ea+ib). This happens for (a,b)≪1. Thus, the use of real part of energies in the earlier works of Gupta and collaborators7–14 is mathematically rigorous, since only small values of (a, b) are involved in all the nuclear and molecular physics problems studied7–14,18–20 so far.

SUq(1,1) and the relativistic oscillator

R. M. Mir‐Kasimov

It is shown that the generalization of the quantum harmonic oscillator to the case of the relativistic configurational space is a q-oscillator. The corresponding group of dynamical symmetry is the quantum group SUq(1,1). The deformation parameter being q=e- omega omega 0/ where omega 0=4mc2 and omega is a frequency of the oscillator. The deformed creation and annihilation operators are finite difference ones. The corresponding deformation of the Heisenberg-Weyl group and new coherent states are also considered.

q-deformed Morse oscillator

Ian L. Cooper, Raj K. Gupta

Using the exact realization of the Morse oscillator problem in terms of SO(2,1) symmetry and its bosonization, the corresponding q deformation is performed. The ground-state energy is found to remain constant for all arbitrary (zero, real, imaginary, or complex) values of the q-deformation parameter. By fitting the resulting q-deformed energy-level spectrum to data for the hydrogen molecule in its ground electronic state, it is shown that, depending upon the value of the scaling constant, a considerable improvement results for the real and/or imaginary q deformation over the corresponding result for the classical Morse oscillator, and that the best fit is obtained in the q-deformed case with a complex value of the deformation parameter.

suq(2)-Invariant Schrodinger Equation of the Three-Dimensional Harmonic Oscillator

Michle Irac-Astaud, C. Quesne

We propose a q-deformation of the su(2)-invariant Schrodinger equation of a spinless particle in a central potential, which allows us not only to determine a deformed spectrum and the corresponding eigenstates, as in other approaches, but also to calculate the expectation values of some physically-relevant operators. Here we consider the case of the isotropic harmonic oscillator and of the quadrupole operator governing its interaction with an external field. We obtain the spectrum and wave functions both for q in R+ and generic q in S1, and study the effects of the q-value range and of the arbitrariness in the suq(2) Casimir operator choice. We then show that the quadrupole operator in l=0 states provides a good measure of the deformation influence on the wave functions and on the Hilbert space spanned by them.

Uq(2)⊃Uq(1) DESCRIPTION OF VIBRATIONAL SPECTRA OF DIATOMIC MOLECULES

RAJ K. GUPTA, Ramandeep S. Johal, Ian L. Cooper

q-deformation of the U(1) dynamical symmetry of U(2) group is introduced for the first time for vibrations of diatomic molecules. The question of pure real and pure imaginary value of q-deformation parameter, often raised in the literature, is found to be related to the particular choice of the constants of the model. The complex q-deformation parameter is allowed, with pure real and pure imaginary values as its special cases. Compared to the other dynamical symmetry Oq(2) of Uq(2), the result of Uq(1) of Uq(2) remains better even when the vibron number in Oq(2) is varied. The role of the vibron number in the two dynamical symmetries of U(2) is shown to be different. In Uq(1) symmetry, the vibron number is fixed by the number of observed states of the system since Uq(1) represents the q-deformation of a truncated anharmonic oscillator. A possible physical meaning to the q-deformation parameter is suggested in terms of higher order anharmonicities of the truncated anharmonic oscillator.

q-breaking of dynamical symmetry in the two-dimensional SU(3) interacting boson model for the quantum group symmetry SUq(3) supset SUq(2) supset SOq(2)

R K Gupta

Quantum-deformation of the vibrational symmetry SU(3) supset SU(2) supset SO(2) of the two-dimensional SU(3) interacting boson model is studied from the point of view of the breaking of the dynamical symmetry. It is shown that, in agreement with the earlier work of Gupta et al. (1992) for the one-dimensional problem, the real and complex (more so the complex) q-deformations take this dynamical symmetry very close to the other (rotational) dynamical symmetry SU(3) supset SO(3) supset SO(2) of the two-dimensional SU(3) group. Also, the intermediate results of mixing these two symmetries are obtained, since q-deformations vary continuously. The purely imaginary q-deformation in SU q (3) supset SU q (2) supset SO q (2) restores the SU(3) symmetry for a parameter value larger than 1. Applications to real nuclei are also made.

A STUDY OF SUq(2) COHERENT STATE BY MAKING USE OF q-DEFORMATION HARMONIC OSCILLATORS REALIZATION OF SUq(2) QUANTUM ALGEBRA

Hao San-Ru, 长沙水利电力师范学院物理系,长沙410077

The SUq(2) coherent state is constructed by making use of the q- deformation harmonic oscillators realization of the SUq(2) quantum algebra. It is shown that the basis functions of the SU, (2) quantum algebra is orthogonal. The completeness and normalizing property of the SUq(2) coherent state is studied. We point out that the coherent property of the SUq(2) co-herent state is affected by q parameter, and show more generalility than the usual SU(2) co-herent state.
