Abstract

For pt. I see ibid., vol. 5, no. 5, 624. Extended series expansions for the high temperature zero-field susceptibility of the Ising model are given in powers of the usual high temperature counting variable v=tanh K for the simple cubic lattice to v 17 , the body-centred cubic lattice to v 15 , and the face-centred cubic lattice to v 12 , inclusive. The coefficients are analysed by the ratio method and it is estimated that, subject to the implicit assumptions thereof, the critical temperatures correspond to v f =0.21813+or-0.00001 (SC), v f =0.15612+or-0.00003 (BCC) and v f =0.10174+or-0.00001 (FCC). The symptotic behaviour of the coefficients is studied in detail; for the loose-packed lattices the decay of the even-odd oscillation in the ratios is found to be consistent with the assumption that the critical index of the high temperature specific heat is very close to 1/8.

High-temperature reduced susceptibility of the Ising model

Two new coefficients are given for the high-temperature series expansion of the zero-field susceptibility of the Ising model for the face-centred cubic lattice. The new coefficients are analysed and it is estimated that the critical temperature nu c =tanh K c =0.10173+or-0.00001 and the critical index gamma =1.250+or-0.005.

Determination of critical behaviour from series expansions in lattice statistics. IV

For pt. III, see abstr. A21890 of 1970. A new low-temperature expansion variable for the Ising model is given. Expansions in the new variable, x=1-tanh(J/kT), then converge right up to the critical point. Power series in the new variable are derived, and then analysed by the Pade method and the method of N-point fits. For the spontaneous magnetization of the Ising model in three dimensions. beta =0.312+or-0.002 for the simple cubic lattice, beta =0.3125+or-0.0015 for the body-centred cubic lattice, and beta =0.312+or-0.004 for the face-centred cubic lattice. For the low-temperature susceptibility gamma =1.30+or-0.02, gamma =1.28+or-0.04, and gamma '=1.29+or-0.04 for the simple cubic, body-centred cubic and face-centred cubic lattices respectively. For the low-temperature specific heat the authors estimate 1 / 16 <or= alpha =0.2 for all three lattices.

Extended high-temperature series for the classical Heisenberg model in three dimensions

Sati McKenzie, Cyril Domb, D L Hunter

Extended series expansions are derived for the high-temperature susceptibility of the classical Heisenberg model, on three-dimensional lattices. Series coefficients are presented to twelfth order for the simple cubic (SC) and face centred cubic (FCC) lattices and to eleventh order for the body centred cubic (BCC) lattice. The results are in agreement with earlier calculations apart from a small discrepancy at the tenth order on the FCC lattice. Extrapolation studies on the extended series are used to obtain revised estimates for the critical points (K c ) and the susceptibility exponent ( gamma ). On the FCC lattice, the authors also investigate the possibility of a confluent non-analytic correction to the dominant singularity. While the coefficients are consistent with the presence of such a correction term with an exponent ( Delta 1 ) of 0.55, as predicted by renormalisation group (RG) calculations, the amplitude of the correction term appears to be very small compared with that of the first analytic correction term.

High-temperature series expansions for mixed spin-S-spin-S' Ising models

G J A Hunter, R. C. Ll. Jenkins, Chris J. Tinsley

Describes the development of high-temperature series expansions for general mixed spin-S-spin-S' Ising models on simple loose-packed lattices. It extends previous work on the simpler special case S'=1/2. Coefficients of the series for the initial susceptibility and specific heat of these models on the square, SC and BCC lattices are presented. A preliminary analysis of the results for the particular case S=1, S'=3/2 is given, and the critical ratio K c and the susceptibility exponent gamma are estimated.

High temperature series for the susceptibility of the Ising model. I. Two dimensional lattices

M F Sykes, David S. Gaunt, P D Roberts +1 more

Extended series expansions for the high temperature zero-field susceptibility of the Ising model are given in powers of the usual high temperature counting variable v=tanh K; for the triangular lattice to v 16 , for the square lattice to v 21 and for the honeycomb lattice to v 32 , inclusive. The asymptotic behaviour of the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic susceptibility is studied. It is concluded that the ferromagnetic singularity is not exactly factorizible. The antiferromagnetic susceptibility of the square and honeycomb lattices has a singularity of the same type as the energy at the antiferromagnetic critical temperature.

Specific heat of a three dimensional Ising ferromagnet above the Curie temperature. II

For pt. I see abstr. A37614 of 1967. High temperature series expansions for the specific heat of the Ising model of a ferromagnet are given for the face-centred cubic, body-centred cubic, and simple cubic lattices. From a numerical study it is concluded that the critical index ( alpha ) is lattice independent and that in three dimensions alpha approximately=1/8. A numerical representation of the specific heat in the range T C <or=T<or= infinity is given in each case, together with estimates of the critical energy, entropy, and free energy. Asymptotic forms for the specific heat and energy are given.
