Abstract

The critical behaviour of the generalized (anisotropic) m -component Weinrib-Halperin model is investigated. The critical exponent η and the dynamic exponent z are calculated in d = 4 - ε space dimension in a two- and one-loop approximation, respectively. Using the fermionic formulation we have derived an exact result for the correlation length exponent ν of the two-dimensional Ising model with long-range correlated quenched defects.

CRITICAL BEHAVIOUR OF 3D SYSTEMS WITH LONG-RANGE CORRELATED QUENCHED DEFECTS

V. V. Prudnikov, Andrei A. Fedorenko

A field-theoretic description of the critical behaviour of systems with quenched defects obeying a power law correlations ∼ |x | −a for large separations x is given. Directly for three-dimensional systems and different values of correlation parameter 2 ≤ a ≤ 3 a renormalization analysis of scaling function in the two-loop approximation is carried out, and the fixed points corresponding to stability of the various types of critical behaviour are identified. The obtained results essentially differ from results evaluated by double ε, δ- expansion. The critical exponents in the two-loop approximation are calculated with the use of the Pade-Borel summation technique. In most papers considerations have been restricted to the case of point defects with small concentrations so that the defects and corresponding random fields have been assumed to be Gaussian distributed and δ- correlated. For the first time in work of Weinrib and Halperin (WH) [1] have been offered the model of the critical behaviour of disordered system in which the correlation function of the random local transition temperature g(x −y) =<< Tc(x)Tc(y)>> − << Tc(x)>> 2

Static and dynamic properties of systems with extended defects: two-loop approximation

Ian D. Lawrie, Vladimir V. Prudnikov

Static and dynamic critical behaviour is studied for spin systems with quenched impurities that are correlated along an epsilon d -dimensional 'line' and randomly distributed in d- epsilon d dimensions. These impurities make the system anisotropic and modify its critical properties. Critical exponents are calculated at the second order of an expansion in epsilon and epsilon d (with epsilon =4-d). Although renormalisation-group functions depend on the ratio epsilon d /( epsilon + epsilon d ), critical exponents are found not to involve this ratio. Pade-like approximants are used to give numerical estimates for the exponents.

Monte Carlo studies of critical behaviour of systems with long-range correlated disoder

Vladimir V. Prudnikov, Pavel Vladimirovich Prudnikov, S. Dorofeev +1 more

Monte Carlo simulations of the short-time dynamic behaviour are reported for three-dimensional Ising model and XY-model with long-range spatially correlated disorder at criticality, in the case corresponding to linear defects. The static and dynamic critical exponents are computed with the use of the corrections to scaling. The obtained values of the exponents are in a good agreement with results of the field-theoretic description of the critical behaviour of this model in the two-loop approximation and with our results of Monte Carlo simulations of three-dimensional Ising model in equilibrium state.

On the critical dynamics of disordered spin systems with extended defects

Vladimir V. Prudnikov

The critical dynamics is studied for a spin system with quenched impurities correlated along an epsilon d -dimensional 'line' and randomly distributed in dl- epsilon d dimensions (d=4- epsilon ). The presence of these line defects makes the system anisotropic and the interactions non-local. The renormalisation group (RG) is used to approach the critical region and the dynamical exponents are calculated to the lowest order in a double epsilon , epsilon d expansion. The existence of two correlation lengths leads to the existence of two dynamical exponents Z 1 and Z t , which are connected by the relation (2- eta t )/Z t =(2- eta l )/Z l .
