Thermal Coherent States and Thermal Squeezed States

Abstract

Various definitions of thermal coherent states and thermal squeezed states are compared and interrelated. Different ordering of squeezing, displacement and thermalizing operators is discussed in order to establish a relation between all definitions. A one-to-one correspondence is exhibited between general Gaussian density matrices in coordinate space and thermal squeezed states.

Thermalized displaced squeezed thermal states

Wen-Fa Lu

In the coordinate representation of thermofield dynamics, we investigate the thermalized displaced squeezed thermal state which involves two temperatures successively. We give the wavefunction and the matrix element of the density operator at any time, and accordingly calculate some quantities related to the position and particle number operator, special cases of which are consistent with the results in the literature. The two temperatures have different correlations with the squeezing and coherence components. Moreover, different from the properties of the position, the average value and variance of the particle number operator as well as the second-order correlation function are time independent.

Thermalized Displaced Squeezed Thermal States

Lu, W F

In the coordinate representation of thermofield dynamics, we investigate the thermalized displaced squeezed thermal state which involves two temperatures successively. We give the wavefunction and the matrix element of the density operator at any time, and accordingly calculate some quantities related to the position, momentum and particle number operator, special cases of which are consistent with the results in the literature. The two temperatures have diffenent correlations with the squeeze and coherence components. Moreover, different from the properties of the position and momentum, the average value and variance of the particle number operator as well as the second-order correlation function are time-independent.

Representations of Squeezed States with Thermal Noise

H. Fearn, Matthew J. Collett

Some of the possible representations of squeezed states with thermal noise are discussed and their various physical interpretations elucidated. Both thermofield techniques and a density operator description are employed, and their results related to one another where possible.

SECOND-ORDER CORRELATION FUNCTION FOR SUCCESSIVE SQUEEZED STATES

Vasile A. Popescu

By successive application of the squeeze operator, we obtain different quantum statistical properties for the squeezed number, the squeezed thermal, the squeezed coherent and the displaced squeezed thermal states. We compare our enhanced squeezing method with other procedures for superposition of two squeezed coherent states.

Properties of squeezed number states and squeezed thermal states

M. S. Kim, F. A. M. de Oliveira, P. L. Knight

Much attention has been given in the past to two classes of squeezed states: the squeezed vacuum and coherent states. Here we study the effects of squeezing on number states and on thermal field states. The statistical properties of these various squeezed states are discussed using the second-order correlation functions. The quasiprobabilities of the Wigner, Q, and positive P representations are calculated and compared for the squeezed states. The Glauber P representation for the squeezed thermal state explicitly shows the limit of its applicability. The photon number distributions of the squeezed number and squeezed thermal states are extensively discussed and new interference effects in phase space are shown to lead to highly structured number distributions.

Decoherence of multimode thermal squeezed coherent states

Leehwa Yeh

It is well known that any multimode positive definite quadratic Hamiltonian can be transformed into a Hamiltonian of uncoupled harmonic oscillators. Based on this theorem, the multimode thermal squeezed coherent states are constructed in terms of density operators. Decoherence of multimode thermal squeezed coherent states is investigated via the characteristic function and it is shown that the decohered (reduced) states are still thermal squeezed coherent states in general.
