Abstract

Abstract We have calculated the spectral function and density of states of halffilled two-dimensional Hubbard model in the Hubbard-I approximation assuming an antiferromagnetic long range order at low temperature and compared results to the QMC data. It occurs that calculated functions are in a qualitative agreement with the QMC one. We have also shown that Neel ordered state dispersion has the similar form to the spin density wave one.

Spectral functions in the hubbard model with half-filling

Sergei G. Ovchinnikov, Elena I. Shneyder

Under the assumption of long-range antiferromagnetic order at low temperatures, the spectral functions and the density of states are calculated in the two-dimensional Hubbard model with half-filling in the Hubbard-I approximation. The results are compared with the data obtained using an exact numerical technique, namely, the quantum Monte Carlo method. The influence of hopping to the next-to-nearest neighbor on the formation of the electronic structure is considered.

Properties of the half-filled Hubbard model investigated by the strong coupling diagram technique

A. Sherman

The equation for the electron Green's function of the fermionic Hubbard model, derived using the strong coupling diagram technique, is solved self-consistently for the near-neighbor form of the kinetic energy and for half-filling. In this case the Mott transition occurs at the Hubbard repulsion Uc ≈ 6.96t, where t is the hopping constant. The calculated spectral functions, density of states (DOS) and momentum distribution are compared with results of Monte Carlo simulations. A satisfactory agreement was found for U > Uc and for temperatures, at which magnetic ordering and spin correlations are suppressed. For U < Uc and lower temperatures the theory describes qualitatively correctly the positions and widths of spectral continua, variations of spectral shapes and occupation numbers with changing wave vector and repulsion. The locations of spectral maxima turn out to be close to the positions of δ-function peaks in the Hubbard-I approximation.

PRECURSOR OF ANTIFERROMAGNETIC BANDS IN THE HALF-FILLED TWO-DIMENSIONAL HUBBARD MODEL

Bumsoo Kyung

We study the half-filled two-dimensional Hubbard model in the intermediate coupling regime. As temperature is decreased for a two-dimensional half-filled band, two-dimensional critical fluctuations give rise to a strong local maximum in | Im Σ(k F , ω)| at ω=0, leading to a split peak with a pseudogap inside in the spectral function and the density of states. The calculated energy dispersion is in good agreement with that of spin density wave approximation.

The Hubbard model in the strong coupling theory at arbitrary filling

A. Sherman

Abstract Equations for the electron Green's function of the two‐dimensional Hubbard model, derived using the strong coupling diagram technique, are self‐consistently solved for different electron concentrations n and tight‐binding dispersions. Comparison of spectral functions calculated for the ratio of Hubbard repulsion to the nearest neighbor hopping with Monte Carlo data shows not only qualitative, but in some cases quantitative agreement in position of maxima. General spectral shapes, their evolution with momentum and filling in the wide range are also similar. At half‐filling and for the next nearest neighbor hopping constant the Mott transition occurs at , where is the initial bandwidth. This value is close to those obtained in the cases of the semi‐elliptical density of states and for . In the case and the Mott gap reaches maximum width at , and it is larger than that at for half‐filling. In all considered cases positions of spectral maxima are close to those in the Hubbard‐I approximation.

Half-filled Hubbard model at low temperature

M Takahashi

The ground-state energy E and momentum distribution n k of the electrons are expanded from the atomic limit for the half-filled Hubbard model. The coefficients of expansion are represented by the spin correlation functions of the spin 1 / 2 Heisenberg model. Using the spin-wave theory, approximate values of coefficients are calculated for the square lattice and the simple cubic lattice. In one dimension, the theory shows a good agreement with the exact solution. An effective spin Hamiltonian for the half-filled Hubbard model with arbitrary hopping integrals is obtained up to the fifth order. It is shown that the fourth term contains four spin interactions.

Thermodynamic properties of one-dimensional hubbard model at finite temperatures

Yang C; Kocharian AN; Chiang YL

[[abstract]]The phase diagram and thermodynamic properties of the Hubbard model in one dimension are calculated numerically within the generalized self-consistent approach over a wide range of temperature T, magnetic field h, interaction strength U/t and electron concentration n. The temperature variation of the transverse magnetization, double occupied sites and chemical potential at various n, U/t and h is also analyzed. The wave vector q for the magnetic order parameter in the vicinity of the half-filling in the metallic phase shows a crossover from incommensurate magnetic phase (0 < q < pi) into the state with strong antiferromagnetic correlations (q = pi) as temperature is increased. Overall our numerical results in the approximate theory at finite temperatures are in good quantitative and qualitative agreement with the Bethe-ansatz results.
