Hartree-Fock Approximation for Inverse Many-Body Problems

Jörg C. Lemm, J. Uhlig

A new method is presented to reconstruct the potential of a quantum mechanical many-body system from observational data, combining a nonparametric Bayesian approach with a Hartree-Fock approximation. A priori information is implemented as a stochastic process, defined on the space of potentials. The method is computationally feasible and provides a general framework to treat inverse problems for quantum mechanical many-body systems.

Nondeterminantal Hartree-Fock theory

George Rosensteel, DAVID J. ROWE

Hartree-Fock (HF) theory is generalized so as to apply to nondeterminantal densities, while retaining the fundamental HF restriction to one-body dynamics. Time development in conventional time-dependent Hartree-Fock and its extension are identical to classical Hamiltonian dynamics.

Nuclear Saturation: A Generalized Hartree-Fock Method

Richard J. Eden

The Hartree self-consistent method is generalized to apply to a system with strong two-body correlations. The generalized Hartree method is shown to be equivalent to solving a self-consistent equation for the mutual interaction of two particles moving in average fields together with a Hartree-Fock variational problem. In this form the method is equivalent to, and provides a simple explanation of, the nuclear saturation procedure used by Brueckner, Levinson, and Mahmoud.
