Quantum-state preparation and control via the Zeno effect

Abstract

We present different schemes for preparing and maintaining the quantum state of multilevel systems. This is achieved via a suitable combination of coherent trapping and the Zeno effect which serves to protect the prepared state against undesired jumps to other states.

Quantum Zeno effect in multilevel systems

Zhuo‐Liang Cao

As we know, quantum Zeno effect may appear when frequent measurements are performed on an unstable quantum system. This effect is well popular in quantum information and quantum computation. However, most of the previous discussions on quantum Zeno effect were focused on two-level systems. In order to comprehend quantum Zeno effect and prevent the transition in different quantum systems better,we verified the existence of quantum Zeno effect in three-level systems.Furthermore, the existence of quantum Zeno effect in multilevel systems could also be fully verified similarly.

Non-holonomic control III: coherence protection by the quantum zeno effect and non-holonomic control

E. Brion, V. M. Akulin, D. Comparat +6 more

In this paper, we present a coherence protection method based upon a multidimensional generalization of the Quantum Zeno Effect, as well as ideas from the coding theory. The non-holonomic control technique is employed as a physical tool which allows its effective implementation. The two limiting cases of small and large quantum systems are considered.

Controlling and engineering a quantum state in a multi-qubit system employing the quantum Zeno effect

Naik, Dhruva, Garima Rajpoot, Sudhir R. Jain

Controlling quantum jumps is crucial for reliable quantum computing. In this work, we demonstrate how the quantum Zeno effect can be applied to a two qubit system interacting with an ancilla which is a component of surface code architecture used to control undesired transitions. Further, we show that by designing the interaction and tuning measurement frequency, the quantum Zeno effect can be used to achieve the desired target state in both single-qubit and two qubit systems.
