Squeezing Properties of Measured Phase Operators in Generalized KerrEven and Odd Coherent States

Xiuzhang Wang

The properties of the two-order and high-order squeezing of phase in generalized Kerr even and odd coherent states have been studied via the measured phase operators introduced by S. M. Barnett and D. T. Pegg. The influences of nonlinear order m of generalized Kerr-medium on squeezing of measured phase operarors have been discussed emphatically. It is shown that the measured phase operator has periodic even-order squeezing in the CS type and di-even-order squeezing in CN type ,in all even and odd coherent states, and the degree of squeezing is relevant to m, |α|2 and δ.

Phase properties of the field in the Jaynes-Cummings model with an additional Kerr medium

Mao-Fa Fang

The phase properties of the field in the Jaynes-Cummings model with an additional Kerr medium are discussed from the point of view of the new phase formalism of Pegg and Barnett. The phase probability distribution, the expectation values and the fluctuations of the Hermitian phase operator and the phase fluctuations are obtained. The effect of nonlinearity interaction of Kerr medium on the phase properties are analysed in comparison with the standard Jaynes-Cummings.

Phase and squeezing properties of two copropagating fields in a Kerr medium

Hongxing Meng, Chin-lin Chai, Z. M. Zhang

The paper deals with a system of two single-mode radiation fields copropagating through a nonabsorbing Kerr medium modeled as an anharmonic oscillator. The quadrature squeezing of the signal light is investigated and the phase dynamics, including the distribution, shift, and variance of the phase of the probe light, is studied using the Pegg-Barnett Hermitian phase operator. The results show that the squeezing is considerably influenced by the coupling between the two fields and the phase dynamics shows new features compared with that predicted by the Susskind-Glogower phase formalism.
