Simplified Scheme for Testing Symmetrization Postulate for Photons

Abstract

We propose a scheme for testing the small violations of the symmetrization postulate (SP) for photons in cavity QED. In the scheme, a degenerate Λ-type three-level atom is sent through a cavity field initially in a q -deformed coherent state. After an appropriate interaction time, the atom is measured by a state-selective detector. The probability that the atom makes a transition from one of the lower states to the other characterizes the violation of the SP. In the scheme, only one atom is required and classical fields are unnecessary, which is prior to the previous schemes.

Testing the symmetrization postulate for photons using Rydberg atoms and cavity QED

Christopher C. Gerry, Robert C. Hilborn

We propose a test for small violations of the symmetrization postulate (SP) for microwave photons using Rydberg atoms in cavity QED. The method requires sequences of two properly prepared and manipulated atoms interacting with the cavity field in a dispersive manner. The cavity field is assumed to be prepared in a q-deformed coherent state. In the case when the SP holds, a sequence of two atoms would always be detected in the same state, but a small violation yields a nonzero probability that the second atom will be found in a different state. We make some estimates of the feasibility of the proposed experiment.

Test of the Symmetrization Postulate for Phonons in an Ion Trap

Zheng Shi-Biao, Xiwen Zhu

We propose a scheme for testing the symmetrization postulate (SP) for phonons in an ion trap. In the scheme a two-level ion is trapped in a harmonic potential and driven by a laser beam tuned to the carrier. The violation of the SP is manifested by the probability that the ion makes a transition from the ground state to the excited state after an appropriate interaction time.

A scheme for generating two-photon and three-photon states of a cavity field using resonant single atoms

Shi-Biao Zheng

We propose a scheme for generating two-photon states for a cavity field. In the scheme the cavity initially contains a small coherent or thermal field. Then a resonant two-level atom is sent through the cavity. After an appropriate interaction time the atom is state-selectively measured, which may collapse the cavity field onto a two-photon state. A three-photon state of rather high fidelity can also be generated with a single atom.

Simplified Scheme for Test of Quantum Nonlocality Without Using Bell Inequality

Zheng Shi-Biao

A simplified scheme is proposed for the test of quantum nonlocality of the type described by Hardy [Phys. Rev. Left. 71 (1993) 1665]. In the scheme two appropriately prepared atoms are simultaneously sent through a cavity and dispersively interact with the cavity field. Then state-selective measurements are performed on these atoms, which may reveal quantum nonlocality without using Bell inequality. We also propose a simple scheme for the generation of multi-atom entangled states.

Alternative Scheme for Teleportation of Two-Atom Entangled State in Cavity QED

Zhen‐Biao Yang

We have proposed an alternative scheme for teleportation of two-atom entangled state in cavity QED. It is based on the degenerate Raman interaction of a single-mode cavity field with a ∧-type three-level atom. The prominent feature of the scheme is that only one cavity is required, which is prior to the previous one. Moreover, the atoms need to be detected are reduced compared with the previous scheme. The experimental feasibility of the scheme is discussed. The scheme can easily be generalized for teleportation of N -atom GHZ entangled states. The number of the atoms needed to be detected does not increase as the number of the atoms in GHZ state increases.
