ENTANGLEMENT OF FORMATION FOR A CLASS OF SPECIAL QUANTUM STATES

Abstract

The entanglement of formation for a class of high-dimensional quantum mixed states is investigated. A special kind of D-computable states is defined and the lower bound of entanglement of formation for a large class of density matrices whose decompositions lie in these D-computable quantum states is obtained. Moreover we present a kind of construction for this special state which is defined by a class of special matrices with two non-zero different eigenvalues and the other eigenvalues are zero. Making use of the D-computable we construct a class of bound entangled states.

A Class of Special Matrices and Quantum Entanglement

Shao-ming Fei, Xianqing Li-jost

We present a kind of construction for a class of special matrices with at most two different eigenvalues, in terms of some interesting multiplicators which are very useful in calculating eigenvalue polynomials of these matrices. This class of matrices defines a special kind of quantum states -- $d$-computable states. The entanglement of formation for a large class of quantum mixed states is explicitly presented.

Entanglement of Formation of an Arbitrary State of Two Qubits

William K. Wootters

The entanglement of a pure state of a pair of quantum systems is defined as the entropy of either member of the pair. The entanglement of formation of a mixed state $\ensuremath{\rho}$ is the minimum average entanglement of an ensemble of pure states that represents \ensuremath{\rho}. An earlier paper conjectured an explicit formula for the entanglement of formation of a pair of binary quantum objects (qubits) as a function of their density matrix, and proved the formula for special states. The present paper extends the proof to arbitrary states of this system and shows how to construct entanglement-minimizing decompositions.

Entanglement of Formation for Quantum States

Hui Zhao, Zhi‐Xi Wang

We investigate the entanglement of formation for a class of high-dimensional quantum mixed states. We present a kind of generalized concurrence for a class of high-dimensional quantum pure states such that the entanglement of formation is a monotonically increasing convex function of the generalized concurrence. From the monotonicity and convexity the entanglement of formation for a class of high-dimensional mixed states has been calculated analytically.

Maximally Entangled Mixed States in two Qubits

Satoshi Ishizaka, Tohya Hiroshima

We propose novel mixed states in two qubits, which have a property that the amount of entanglement of these states cannot be increased by any unitary transformation. The corresponding entanglement of formation specified by its eigenvalues gives an upper bound of that for density matrices with the same eigenvalues.

Quantum entanglement of formation between qudits

Seunghwa Ryu, Wei Cai A, Alfredo Caro

We develop a fast algorithm to calculate the entanglement of formation of a mixed state, which is defined as the minimum average entanglement of the pure states that form the mixed state. The algorithm combines conjugat-gradient and steepest-descent algorithms and outperforms both. Using this new algorithm, we obtain the statistics of the entanglement of formation on ensembles of random density matrices of higher dimensions than possible before. The correlation between the entanglement of formation and other quantities that are easier to compute, such as participation ratio and negativity are presented. Our results suggest a higher percentage of zero-entanglement states among zero-negativity states than previously reported.

Maximally entangled mixed states under nonlocal unitary operations in two qubits

Satoshi Ishizaka, Tohya Hiroshima

We propose mixed states in two qubits that have a property that the amount of entanglement of these states cannot be increased by any unitary transformation. The property is proven when the rank of the states is less than 4, and confirmed numerically in the other general cases. The corresponding entanglement of formation specified by its eigenvalues gives an upper bound of that for density matrices with the same eigenvalues. Further, as a simple application of the upper bound of the entanglement of formation, we analyze the entanglement of formation of the state generated by a decohered controlled-NOT gate in the spin-boson model.
