Abstract

The application of laser cooling to facilitate the superradiance process is considered. The possibilities to quench homogeneous and inhomogeneous relaxation processes, to create inversion and to ensure superradiance without inversion are analyzed. The corresponding kinetic equations are constructed. Their solutions are obtained in order to estimate the conditions for observation of superradiance induced by laser cooling process.

Collective effects application in laser cooling of solids

S. V. Petrushkin, Самарцев Виталий Владимирович

The method of elimination of boson operators is used to theoretically analyze the possibility and optimal conditions of superradiance regime of laser cooling of crystals and glasses doped with rare-earth ions. A set of kinetic equations governing the processes of laser cooling and optical superradiance in a multilevel system is derived for the pulsed regime. It is demonstrated that the efficiency of laser cooling in this regime is proportional to a factor N2(lambda) 2KnS, where N is the number of active impurity centers, (lambda) is the superradiance wavelength, K is the number of superradiance channels, and nS is the number of superradiance events per second.

Superradiance regime of laser cooling in extended solids

Eugene K. Bashkirov

The kinetics of the extended crystal doped by rare-earth ions in the regime of anti-Stokes laser cooling has been considered taking into account the collective radiation effects. The system of Markovian equations for impurities and pseudolocal phonons has been obtained. As would be expected, the collective radiation effects cause an acceleration in relaxation depletion of the phonon mode and, therefore, an increase in crystal cooling efficiency.

Laser cooling of extended solids in the superradiant regime. The alternative approach

Eugene K. Bashkirov, Башкиров Е. К

The process of laser cooling of an extended impurity crystal in a superradiance regime is explored with using the alternative scheme of a pumping of the impurity ions. Possibility of cooling of samples at the expense of collective radiation is shown.

Multipulse excitation of optical superradiance in multilevel systems

Alexei A. Kalachev, Самарцев Виталий Владимирович

The multipulse regime of excitation of optical superradiance in both two- and multilevel systems is theoretically investigated. It is demonstrated that this regime is the generalization of the triggering regime of superradiance excitation. The possibilities of information processing and laser cooling of solids under this superradiant regime are discussed.

Cascade superradiance

Sergei N. Andrianov, Самарцев Виталий Владимирович

Experimental results on cascade superradiance are observed. Kinetic equations of cascade superradiance are derived in the framework of nonequilibrium statistical operator method of Zubarev-Peletminsky. Their approximate solutions are obtained for the initial and final stages of process.

Superradiance and superradiance without inversion of a thin layer of three-level atoms: The consideration of the sample extent

A. A. Bogdanov, А. И. Зайцев, Igor Viktorovich Ryzhov

The effect of the sample extent in the process of superradiance and superradiance without population inversion of a thin ( L ≤ λ) layer of three-level atoms (Λ-configuration of working transitions) is investigated. The limits of applicability of the spatially homogeneous approximation are determined. The consideration of the extent is shown to introduce new effects into the kinetics of populations and the field.
