Effect of detuning and coherence phase on normal squeezing

Abstract

The effects of detuning as well as the relative phases between the atomic coherence and the field coherent state on the squeezing phenomenon for the one-photon and two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model are investigated. Amounts of normal squeezing can be improved by appropriate choices of detuning and phases. The relation between the collapses and revivals phenomenon and squeezing is made transparent.

Amplitude-squared squeezing in the multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings model: Effect of phases

A.M. Abdel-Hafez, A.‐S. F. Obada

The phenomenon of amplitude-squared squeezing is investigated for the one- and two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model. The relative phase between the atomic coherent state and the coherent field state is found to affect this phenomenon with larger amounts of squeezing that can be found by changing the angles (\ensuremath{\theta}) for fixed relative phase.

Amplitude-squared squeezing in the multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings model: Effects of the atomic coherent states and detuning

Mubeen A. Mir

An analysis of the effects of detuning and the superposition angle on amplitude-squared (AS) squeezing is presented for the one- and two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM) using coherent and squeeze inputs. In the one-photon JCM for squeezed inputs, it is shown that the degree of AS squeezing increases as the detuning increases. The two-photon JCM, on the other hand, displays this characteristic only for coherent input in a small range of values of the detuning. The superposition angle affects the degree of AS squeezing more significantly for a detuned field than for a tuned one. The behavior of AS squeezing becomes independent of the value of the superposition angle in both the models for large initial average photon number, n\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}, with any value of detuning and for large detuning with any value of n\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}.

Degenerate and nondegenerate two-mode normal squeezing in a two-level atom and two-mode system

A.M. Abdel-Hafez

We investigate the phenomenon of degenerate and nondegenerate two-mode squeezing for a generalized Jaynes-Cummings model with a two-level atom and two modes. The effect of the relative phases between the atomic superposition state and the coherent field on normal squeezing is studied. Different values for the parameters of the atomic coherent state are taken. It is found that the nondegenerate two-mode squeezing is more effective than the one-mode degenerate type, and it recurs at later times.

Effect of Squeezing on the Atomic and the Entanglement Dynamics in the Jaynes-Cummings Model

T. Subeesh, Vivishek Sudhir, A.B.M.a d Ahmed +1 more

The dynamics of the Jaynes-Cummings interaction of a two-level atom interacting with a single mode of the radiation field is investigated, as the state of the field is gradually changed from a coherent state to a squeezed coherent state. The effect of mild squeezing on the coherent light is shown to be striking: the photon number distribution gets localized and it peaks maximally for a particular value of squeezing. The atomic inversion retains its structure for a longer time. The mean linear entropy shows that the atom has a tendency to get disentangled from field within the collapse region and also in the revival region, for mild squeezing. These properties are absent for the case of a coherent state or for an excessively squeezed coherent state. We also elucidate a connection between these properties and the photon statistics of the mildly squeezed coherent state; these states have the minimum variance and are also maximally sub-Poissonian.

Single-mode and two-mode squeezing in the three-level atom

A.M. Abdel-Hafez

We investigate the phenomena of single-mode and two-mode squeezing for a three-level atom and two modes. The field modes are initially taken in coherent states. The effects of detuning on these phenomena are studied for one-photon and two-photon interactions. The relation between the collapse and revival phenomena and single-mode and two-mode squeezing is shown. It is found that the two-mode squeezing is much more effective than the single-mode squeezing for the one-photon interaction. While for the two-photon interaction the reverse is true.

Interaction of Squeezed Light with Two-level Atoms

H. M. Moya-Cessa, A. Vidiella-Barranco

We investigate some of the fundamental features of the interaction of squeezed light with two-level atoms in the framework of the Jaynes-Cummings model. We start our analysis by calculating the collapses and revivals of the atomic inversion. We discuss the degree of purity of the field (given by the entropy) and its disentanglement from the atomic source. The connection with the evolution of the Q-function is also made. We notice that contrary to the coherent state case, the field turns into a nearly pure (squeezed) state at the revival time as if the field was prepared in a coherent state. The field also becomes a superposition of squeezed states at half of the revival time, and this is confirmed by investigating the photon number distribution. The phase properties of the field are discussed using the Pegg-Barnett formalism.
