Abstract

The spread function is found for degenerate four-photon conversion with rotation. Estimates are given of dependences of the resolution of the radiation converter on the rotation, on the detuning of the image plane from the object plane, and on the divergence of the pump wave.

Quality of image conversion by a quasidegenerate four-photon interaction with tilting

Valery V. Ivakhnik, G. E. Nekrasova

The form of the spread function of a point is found for a quasidegenerate four-photon parametric interaction of the ω 1 + ω 2 – ω 1 →ω 2 type in a system with tilted pump waves. It is shown that the existence of two phase-matching directions due to a tilt of the pump waves results in doubling of the converted image of a point. When the image plane does not coincide with the optimal focusing plane, there is a critical angle of tilt of the pump waves which ensures the maximum resolution of a parametric radiation converter in the image plane. Allowance for the aperture of the pump waves alters the ratio of the maximum values of the amplitudes of the components of a doubled image of a point.

Characteristics of a four-wave radiation converter in a multimode waveguide with resonant nonlinearity

Valery V. Ivakhnik, Елена Викторовна Воробьева, Darkhan R. Kapizov

Quality of the wavefront reversal by a four-wave radiation converter in a parabolic waveguide with resonant nonlinearity have been analyzed using the point spread function. Medium with resonant nonlinearity have been modeled by an ensemble of particles described by a two-level energy scheme. It has been shown that over time, the half-width of the point spread function module decreases, reaching a stationary value, the magnitude of which is determined by the first pump wave intensity in the case of a long waveguide. A decrease in the pump radius at low intensity of the first pump wave leads to a decrease in the half-width of the point spread function modulus (the quality of the wavefront reversal improves), and at high intensity leads to an increase in the half-width of the point spread function modulus (the quality of the wavefront reversal deteriorates) in the stationary case with distribution on the back waveguide face depending on the transverse coordinate of the second pump wave amplitude of the according to the Gaussian law.

Quality of wavefront reversal of multifrequency radiation by four-wave interaction

A. I. Erokhin, Valeri I. Kovalev, П. А. Михеев +1 more

It is shown experimentally that broadening of the frequency spectrum of waves participating in four-wave interaction in a system with exactly counterpropagating reference waves results in an angular spread of the reflected radiation and thus causes a deterioration in the wavefront reversal quality. The angular spread is proportional to the angle of convergence of the signal and the parallel pump wave and to the width of the emission spectrum.

An experimental investigation was made of the angular selectivity of a wavefront-reversing mirror based on a degenerate four-wave interaction and of the influence of this selectivity on the quality of an image formed by the reversed wave in a scheme with an object in one of the pump beams.

Use of degenerate parametric processes for wavefront correction (review)

É S Voronin, Vera M. Petnikova, В. А. Шувалов

A review is given of results obtained by the present authors in investigations of wavefront reversal in degenerate parametric processes. An analysis is made of the problem of transmission of signal radiation along an optically inhomogeneous path. A model of a system to compensate for phase distortions using wavefront reversal in parametric processes is developed. The mathematical device of the spread function is used to determine the limiting capabilities of the method. It is found that satisfactory compensation for distortions is achieved when a parametric radiation converter resolves the effective scale of the inhomogeneities. The possibilities for implementing these systems in practice are discussed.

Energy efficiency of wavefront reversal in stimulated four-wave parametric scattering

Alexander M. Lazaruk, Alexander S. Rubanov

A statistical theory is developed for the formation of a reversed light wave in degenerate four-wave mixing of a complex signal field and two high-power plane pump waves in a nonabsorbing nonlinear medium. The maximum efficiencies of conversion of a pump wave to a reversed wave are determined and the optimal conditions for the process are established.
